Part I: Author (10 minutes – 10 slides)
1. Main idea of the article: Problem (motivation, need), solution (design) 2. Details: Introduction, background, methods, results 3. Discussion and conclusions
Part II: Reviewer (2 minutes – 2 slides) – Justify your answers
1. Topic: Is it important? Is it interesting to many readers? Is it up to date? Does it advance science? 2. Literature: Is it comprehensive? Is it helpful? Is it biased? 3. Methods: Are they correct? Are they complete? Are they clear? 4. Results: Are they clearly presented? Are they meaningful and justifiable? Are they reproducible? 5. Writing Style: Is it clear? Is it concise? Is it correct? 6. Are the authors self-critical? Do they discuss the limitations of their work? 7. Your conclusion: What are the strengths and weaknesses of the article? Does the work follow the scientific approach? Does it comply with the mechatronic design approach whenever applicable?
Ask yourself the following questions to find your way in going ahead with your research: 1. What is the main idea that I like most in this article? How can I build upon it in my work? 2. What are the limitations of the work? How can I eliminate / reduce them? 3. How can I make the design or the development of the work presented in the article better, easier, faster, more accurate, more exact, more general, or more cost effective? 4. How can I introduce an idea (or topic) that I am aware of (expert in) from another field to the field of research?
