Harana, when you hear the word harana what
comes to your mind?
(students respond)

by a man to express his love to a lady.
Example of this are “Ang tangi kong Pag-
ibig”, “O ilaw”, and “Dungawin mo Hirang”

Batangas. This song is in triple meter with
themes of love and courtship. Example of this

Pandanggo? (students respond)

Good! Pandanggo is a dance form that can be

found in different Islands of Luzon such as

Next is Polka.
Polka is originated from a bohemian dance
that became popular in Europe and America
in early 19th century. Example of this is
Magtanim ay Di Biro and Leron Leron Sinta.

Next is Balitaw.
Balitaw it is a dialogue or courtship song in
triple meter, mostly in 2 and 3-part forms and
arranged with counter melodies. Example of
this are Sa libis ng nayon by Santiago Suarez,
Bakya mo Neneng and Arimunding-Munding

Kundiman came from the words “Kung Hindi

spiritual attitude, intense, love, longing,
caring, devotion and oneness not only with a
romantic partner, but also with a parent, child,
