The SNAPS table provides basic navigation

functionality by calculating and tracking the
ship’s position against a paper chart. It also
provides a limited Local Operations Plot
(LOP) function by performing target motion
analysis on user input sonar and periscope
information.

ADVANCED NAVIGATION FEATURES

The ECPINS® D-MOP hardware is designed to be installed in the same space
presently occupied by the SNAPS table. Its ‘3-piece’ design allows for easy
handling through restricted spaces, including submarine hatches. It can house
hardware for a single WECDIS as part of an IMO compliant ECDIS solution.
ECPINS® D-MOP provides a LOP with the ability to conduct multiple Target
Motion Analysis (TMA). The LOP can be expanded to become an extension
of the Recognized Maritime Picture. Long range picture compilation and
intelligence assessment can be accomplished from a single control station. Unlike
SNAPS, the ECPINS® D-MOP is not limited by the ‘paper chart in use’.
ECPINS® D-MOP has also been successfully interfaced with the Lockheed Martin
Submarine Fire Control System (SFCS) and SFCS software. Within the system,
SFCS and ECPINS® can share a horizontally mounted monitor and Operator
Control Panel (OCP).
