THE
CONSTRUCTION☺

• The construction of the Titanic began on March 31,

1909 and took three years to build. The designer of
the boat was James Andrews.Titanics "sister ship"
had begun construction 3 moths earlier and they
were made side by side. This costed 15,000 workers
to make both the ships, and the job was very
dangerous. Many people sadly died while in
construction. "Titanic was constructed with sixteen
watertight compartments. Each compartment had
doors that were designed to close automatically if
the water level rose above a certain height"
(historyonthenet.com).The titanic had three
propellers that were powered by stem that got the
titanic through the sea.
THE DAY THE
TITANIC SET
SAIL☺

On April 1912 at 12 o'clock the

burger sounded the launch signal.
The ship's whistle sounded and
the titanic left. Then, nearly ran
into disaster. As she approached
the liners Oceanic and New York,
the weight of the people onboard
the New York caused New York's
stern lines to part and swing into
the Titanic's path. Quick thinking
of the captain caused the two
ships not to collide.

Around 11: 30 pm the lookout crew was peering

into the icy darkness. They had no bincoulars and
saw a shape just 500 yards away and immendietly
rang his bell alert to the bridge because there was
no phone. They ordered an emergency turn
to port and hit the switch to close the watertight
doors, but it was too late. It was beilieved that the
rivets popped, and the blades held open. Six
compartments opened and the titanic could only
float with three opened. Boats were partually
fillied, lowered and then more passengers were
expected to climb down rope ladders to them.
Lifeboat seven was the first lifeboat to be launched
at 12:45 am (65 minutes after the iceberg hit the
ship).Third class were lower down in the ship, so
they were notified later. Women and childeren
were first unless there were no women in
sight. There were 109 children on board and 2,220
people onboard.

It has been longed claimed that those on

the Titanic saw the light of a ship nearby
and it is assumed that the ship was the
Californian ship. Passengers from
Carpathia the ship, donated warm
clothing and hot drinks were prepared
for the survivors. The survivors arrived
in New York on April 18, four days after
the sinking. Many bodies were recovered
and buried.

was ripped off when the ship sank to the
