Introduction
Basically, transportation process refers to the any kind of processes that occurred in the transportation
environment. The processes are running while the modes of transport are moving from one place to another
place. Some definitions and perspectives of transportation process will be discussed in detail later in
content.

The process of transportation determines the efficiency of moving products that includes the progress in
techniques and management principle to improve the moving load, delivery speed, service quality,
operation cost and the usage of facilities and energy saving. Transportation process helps to optimize the
existing production and distribution process based on the same resources through management techniques
for promoting the efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises. For transportation process required whole
production procedure from manufacturing to delivery to the final consumers and return. Transportation
process consists of process of moving and handling goods and materials, from the beginning to the end of
the production, sale process and waste disposal, to satisfy customers and add business competitiveness. It
has component of logistic system to smooth the transportation process. The closely linked components
between logistic system and transportation process are first, logistic services, information system and
infrastructure or resource.

Without well-developed transportation system, logistic could not bring its advantages into full play
and will have a problem in handling the transportation process. A good transportation system in logistic
could provide better logistic efficiency in term of transport process, reduce operation cost, and promote
services quality. The role of transportation in logistic is more complicated than carrying goods for the
proprietors. By means of well-handled transport system, goods could be sent to the right place at right time
in order to satisfy customer’s demands. (M.Sreenivas)Besides, the benefit that gain from Logistics are can
reduce overstocking, eliminate costly shipment congestions and delays in delivery schedules, and offer time
and cost savings to the supply chain participants. By providing necessary time of information while the
freight on the move, and the requirements of the production processes to all relevant actors in the supply
chain and transportation process. (Schneider, 1998)

As stated by Kozhukhovskaya, L., et.al, (2017), In modular management perspectives, methods of

"Driver-Vehicle-Road-Environment" (DVRE) system moduli situational management is used as the basis
of transportation process organization management. Transportation process core is created by development
of connection of cargo set of characteristics, DVRE system components during input necessity and

transportation system composition operation situations discrepancy. Upon this aim, based on the inspected
situations and processes generality quantitative measures acquired in DVRE system are used as
characteristic for decision-making in transportation process management.

According to Gao, J., Xiao, Z., Cao, B., & Chai, Q. (2018) state that the laws and regulations for
carbon emissions. Hence, the authorities have suggested about some MINLP multidimensional models for
the management of low-carbon logistics systems. Moreover, the authority uses this model for logistics case
study in China. This article greatly helps the management to strategically improve the management of
transportation processes. The primary objective of reducing carbon emissions and without significantly
increasing the cost. However, the government can also play a role in reducing carbon by implementing
carbon tax policies or carbon trading policies. Furthermore, the management side needs to set up supply
chains, such as basic carbon footprint and transportation process and inventory costs. Thus, it represented
the best results use carbon cap for the environment. In conclusion, multinational companies need to consider
how the decision to make a supply chain to minimize costs and use efficient strategies without neglecting
transportation process.

In the case of Asian nation, the transportation process as long as the network coming up with
throughout the colonial amount emphasized the linking from town ports with hinterlands to facilitate
agricultural and mineral exports. However, once independence, the issues of unbalanced development: and
primitive cities needed a policy of decentralized development. Basic infrastructure and sensible
transportation facilities were provided to enhance the transportation process and develop the new frontier
and rural regions. Recently, larger attention has been centered on the regional development strategy as
Associate in nursing instrument in facilitating the agricultural urbanization and manufacture program.
(Konno, A. 1993)

There are the top 5 reasons for companies to improve their transportation process which are
Compliance, Insight, Costs, Efficiency and Performance. Firstly, is the compliance. The optimal way to
achieve compliance in transportation process is to create a 3-way match for the transport costs. To avoid
all that manual work, you can make a pre-calculation based on the rate agreements with your carriers. This
pre-calculation, combined with a Proof-of-Delivery and an invoice enables a 3-way match. Next is insight
where is track and trace. If we want to know where our shipment is weather inbound or outbound, we can
track and trace our valuable shipments via GPS transponders. Furthermore, the costs of tendering and spot
buying. A proper tooling around spot buying can be a huge cost saver; post your transportation requirements
on a secure portal and ask selected carriers to bid on the shipment and award the best quote to execute the
transport. The efficiency to automate the manual work. Besides that, the performance in Digital Supply
Chain. With all information in one system you can appoint a Business Intelligence team that identifies

improvement opportunities throughout the entire end-2-end process. Once you start monitoring
transportation as an end-2-end process you can start managing the end-to-end process in a mature way
(Benefits of managing your Transportation activities as an End-to-End process, 2016).

It is important to note that Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom are known
as nations that have been actively discussing sustainable transportation issues for several years. Many of
the strategies and measures being done in Europe and United States (FHWA, 2001). Firstly, methods of
planning have been redesigned and improvised so that social, economic, and environmental objectives are
a fundamental part of sustainable transportation planning rather than constraints or the focus of mitigation
efforts. This replaces both the process and the content of transportation planning and decision making.
Secondly, transport agencies are directly responsible for the social, economic, and environmental
performance of their systems. This shifts the incentive structure and further alters project design and
selection. As a result, priorities are moving toward less environmentally damaging modes and improved
such as vehicle technology by optimizing the use of existing capacity, location and design decisions that
support sustainability objectives. These modifications are performed so that policy commitments are in
place. Next, collaborative planning and incentives support action. After that, funding is given for excellence
projects and well-organized implementation. There is a sense of authentic value being added to this new
strategy. Significant advances in sustainability will require ongoing efforts, with monitoring, evaluation,
experimentation, adjustment and learn through planning and action.

Finally, according to the Transportation Planning Capacity Building website,

transportation process is very vital because it helps shape an area’s economic health and the quality
of life. It was widely known that the roles of transportation are not only to move the goods and
people but also to influence the patterns of growth and economic activity by providing access to
the land. As the transportation plays a huge role, it was inevitable that the performance of the
system will affects public policy concerns like air quality, social equity, environmental resource
consumption, land use, safety and many more. To recognizes and control the critical links between
transportation and other societal goal, transportation planning is important because it is not only
merely listing highway and transit capital projects, it also requires developing strategies for the
operating, maintaining, managing, and financing the area of the transportation system in such a
way as to advance the areas for a long-term goal.
