STANDARD LESSON PLAN FORMAT

I. Describe the Class

There are 20 students in the third-grade class, there are no students that have
learning disabilities in math.

II. Subject/Skill:
Math, multiply one digit numbers.

III. Objective(s)
The students will fill out a worksheet that has one digit equals from 1-4. The
worksheet contains 20 problems. The students will complete the worksheet
with 85% accuracy before moving on to multiplication of 5-9 which they will
then complete with 90% accuracy.

IV. Procedures
After the math lesson that demonstrate how to multiply one digit. The lesson
will show how multiplication is building off of addition using counting cubes.
How do you multiply 2 x 2?
You add two counting cubes x two counting cubes and come out with four
counting cubes.
Another example is 2 x 3
You have two groups of three counting groups, Which equal to six.
The students will then get a worksheet from 1-4 of single digit equations and
must master it of 85% before moving on to 5-9 equations.

V. Materials
Elmo projector
Counting cubes
White board marker
Pencil
Multiplication worksheet

VI. Grouping Structures

The whole class will participate in this activity and then the students will work
individually on the assignment.

VII. Modifications
If the student struggles to reach 85% accuracy then they will get a different
work sheet of just the one multiple, such as the multiple of 2, so the entire
paper will be 2 times a number. This will then allow them to break down the
skill and get more practice in before moving on to the larger numbers of
multiplication. If the students are still struggling we will do more practice
problems in the classroom and showing the grouping using number blocks to
understand the concept of grouping and then adding together to show that
multiplication is similar to addition.

VIII. Assessment
I will know that the student understands the concepts by issuing a speed
multiplication test for one multiple. The student will then have to answer 50
questions in three minutes and then move on to the next multiple. The student
just get 100% accuracy before moving on to the next multiple.
These same worksheets will go home with the student so that they can
practice the multiplication and timing with their parents.
