22213-2 Oil filter housing, replace

Illustrations may differ slightly from the actual vehicle being serviced. However, key
components addressed in this information are represented as accurately as possible.
All threaded fasteners that do not have a tightening torque specification in the information are
tightened to a standard torque. Standard torques are available in the following specification.➠
Standard tightening torques
DANGER
Risk of serious injury.
The vehicle can be set in motion if appropriate safety precautions have not been taken.
▶ Before starting the engine, place the gear lever in neutral and apply the parking brake.
WARNING
Risk of burn injuries.
Heated components and mechanical parts can cause burns.
▶ Exercise caution when working with heated components. Always use the appropriate protective
equipment.
CAUTION
Heat shield
The sound baffle is also a heat shield to prevent hot air from reaching surrounding components.
▶ Always reinstall the heat shield/sound baffle after repair. Inspect for damage and replace if
necessary.
CAUTION
Risk of material damage.
Dirt and foreign bodies can damage the lubrication system.
▶ Ensure that the work area is clean.
▶ Cover or plug openings immediately. If work on removed parts is disrupted, cover the parts.
▶ Ensure that tools, gloves and protective clothes are as clean as possible.

Using the wrong type of oil filter could result in damage to bearings, crankshaft and connected parts
as a result of unfiltered oil entering the lubrication system.
▶ Only use oil filters approved by the manufacturer.

1 Perform this procedure when the condition below is met.
Conditions
● If the vehicle has an alarm.
▶ Set the key in position II.
▶ Hold down the button (1).
▶ Press the button (2).
Note
Check that the LED lamp for alarm status illuminates and shines constantly, which indicates
service mode.

Conditions
● Activate the workshop mode ‘Hibernate’.
▶ Remove the key from the starter switch (1).
▶ Press the button for the warning flashers (2).
▶ Press and hold down the warning flasher button (3).
Conditions
● Hold in the button for at least 5 seconds.
Tech data
If the process was successful: The courtesy light and interior light
are off when the door is opened.
▶ Wait for at least 30 seconds (4).
▶ Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal (5).

3 Lock the roof spoiler.
4 Place the gear lever in neutral.
5 Apply the parking brake.
6 Exit the cab. Ensure that all the doors are closed.
7 Open the front cover.
WARNING
A cab that is not tilted to the end position constitutes a safety risk.
▶ Always tilt the cab to the end position. Never perform any work under the cab before it has been
tilted to the end position.

Damage may occur to the cab.
▶ Make sure that there is adequate space in front of the vehicle before tilting the cab.

CAUTION
The turbocharger can be damaged if foreign particles enter the charge air system. Particles as small
as 1 mm can cause damage.
▶ Observe maximum cleanliness when working on the charge air system. Cover or plug openings
immediately.
10 Remove the V-clamps.
11 Remove the screws.
12 Remove the charge air pipe.
Note
Blank off the holes.

13 Clean around the filters.
14 Install the tool (A) .

66 Connect the cable to the negative terminal (1).
67 Apply protectant to battery terminals and cable terminals.
Note
Use recommended anti-corrosion spray.
68 Insert the key (2).

70 Fill the required quantity of engine oil.

Use recommended engine oil.
71 Install the exhaust hose on the exhaust pipe.

Ensure that the handbrake is applied.

WARNING

80 Tilt back the cab.
81 Lower the front cover.

22213-2 Oil filter housing, replace

▶ Ensure that the work area is clean.

▶ Only use oil filters approved by the manufacturer.

1 Perform this procedure when the condition below is met.

▶ Set the key in position II.

▶ Hold down the button (1).

▶ Press the button (2).

2 Perform this procedure when the condition below is met.

▶ Remove the key from the starter switch (1).

▶ Press the button for the warning flashers (2).

▶ Press and hold down the warning flasher button (3).

▶ Wait for at least 30 seconds (4).

▶ Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal (5).

3 Lock the roof spoiler.

4 Place the gear lever in neutral.

5 Apply the parking brake.

7 Open the front cover.

Risk of material damage.

8 Tilt the cab forward.

9 Remove the sound baffle.

10 Remove the V-clamps.

11 Remove the screws.

12 Remove the charge air pipe.

13 Clean around the filters.

14 Install the tool (A) .

15 Remove the oil filters.

16 Remove the screws.

17 Remove the screws.

18 Disconnect the connectors.

19 Remove the cable ties.

20 Move aside the cable harness.

21 Remove the screw.

22 Remove the pipe.

23 Remove the sealing ring.

24 Remove the screws.

25 Remove the plate.

26 Remove the screws.

27 Remove the assembly.

28 Remove the gasket.

29 Remove the pipe.

30 Remove the sealing rings.

31 Remove the pipe.

32 Remove the sealing rings.

33 Drain the collected fluid at a recycling facility.

35 Clean the contact surfaces carefully.

36 Install the sealing rings.

37 Lubricate the sealing rings.

38 Install the pipe.

39 Install the sealing rings.

40 Lubricate the sealing rings.

41 Install the pipe.

42 Install the gasket.

43 Install the assembly.

44 Install the screws.

45 Torque tighten the screws.

Oil filter housing, screw Tightening sequence: 1-7

46 Install the screws.

▶ Tighten connections according to service information.

47 Torque tighten the screws.
