TRC Lesson Template

Lesson Plan Format

1. Standards/Quality Indicators/Skills

Prewriting 6-12 Correlation Writing 2A Follow a writing process to plan a first draft by: brainstorming and recording key
ideas using a graphic organizer

Students will watch animal planet video on sea animals, I will put students into groups of three and they will choose a sea animal that
they want to write about. The students will then research the animal. They will keep a binder if their research and then will take the
information that they have gathered and put all of it into their own words into a rough draft.

Students will quiz over sea animals on quizlet and kahoot, they will look over their classmates graphic organizers and give peer
feedback

Students can research online or they can check out books from the library to help with their sea animal research

Animal planets videos on sea life, kahoot, quizlet

Strategies consistent with the learning needs of the lesson that also meet student behavior needs to help keep students on task and
actively engaged

Students will be broken up into to groups of two to three and each group will be working on the same thing like they will all research at
the same time, they will all start writing rough draft at the same, this will minimize confusion and allow me to walk around the room to
observe and help where needed

Activities for early finishers that extend students’ understanding of and thinking about the learning objectives (goals) by applying their
new knowledge in a different way

Quick activity for review or building on today’s learning that will deepen student understanding and interconnect concepts (may be

To follow up we will write up a final draft to finish up our writing process and complete the next step after our rough draft
