Toast Master:
It’s a great topic to discus. Let’s start from the beautiful first speaker, Ms. Ekalisna,
the floor is yours.

Speaker I :
Ok Thank you theToast Master for the time given to me, now I will present our
topic today, the today’s topic is Medicine Room in ST Jude Children’s Hospital

The medicine room in ST Jude Children’s research hospital is where your child
gets the treatments that their primary clinic doctor orders. These may include:
1) Chemotherapy – Drugs that fight cancer.
2) Blood products – To raise the levels of certain cells or substances in
the blood.
3) Other medicines and treatments.
The Medicine Room is also St. Jude’s urgent care clinic on weekends and when
clinics are closed from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. The Medicine Room is open 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
How to get ready for your Medicine Room visit ?
1) Please bring all the medicines that your child will need during the day.
You might need to stay longer than you expect if your schedule changes.
2) Your child needs an ID armband to get treatment in the Medicine Room.
Please go to Registration each day to get your child’s armband and
appointment schedule.
Your child usually has a clinic visit before coming to the Medicine Room. The
doctor will order medicines or other treatments. Then we go through a series of
safety steps before giving them to your child.

Toast Master :

Alright now we’are going to call the second speaker today, Ms. Dewa Ayu.

Speaker II :
Thank you like what the toastmaster has told you that the topic today is Medicine
Room in ST Jude Children’s Hospital. I will continue the toastmaster today.

Arriving for your Medicine Room appointment

Please let the patient representative at the desk know you are here. You can
enjoy activities near the Medicine Room while we get your child’s medicine or
treatments ready. Children’s activity areas are in the north and south lobbies of the
Patient Care Center. You may also visit the Linda R. Hajar Family Resource
Center, gift shop, Kay Kafe, and Starbucks.
If you leave the Medicine Room waiting area near the fish tanks, please make
sure the patient representative knows your phone number. You might not hear us
call you on the overhead pager in some areas.
We know your time is valuable, and we try to stay on time. If it is 30 minutes
past your scheduled appointment, please ask the patient representative or nursing
coordinator for an update.

Important things to know

1. You or another adult family member must stay with your child in the
Medicine Room. If you need to leave for a short time, someone from the
Helping Hands volunteer program might be available to help. Ask your
nurse about this.
2. We will put your child in a crib if they are younger than age 2. This is for
their safety.
3. Side rails should be up on all beds and cribs if you are not at the bedside or
close enough to touch your child.
4. The treatment area is not large. If it gets too crowded, staff might ask you
to put large items, such as wheelchairs, someplace else. Or, they might
limit the number of family members in the room.
5. A nurse can only connect or disconnect medicine when your child is in the
patient room or recliner.
6. A playroom is available for patients in the Medicine Room. Please put
toys in the “dirty toy bin” after use.
7. Eating and drinking are allowed in the patient care areas, but not at the
nursing stations or the playroom. Ask a staff member for help if you can’t
get to the cafeteria during meal times.
