5. Learning Context
A. The Learners
(i) What prior experiences, knowledge and skills do the learners bring with them to this learning
experience?
Students know that they go to school from Monday through Friday.
Students know what a calendar is and have seen one before.
(ii) How will I differentiate the instruction (content, process and/or product) to ensure the inclusion of
all learners? (Must include where applicable accommodations and/or modifications for learners
identified as exceptional.)
o I will make sure that all students learn and understand the uses of the days of the week. If students
need extra time to learn I will give them all the time that they need to learn the days of the week.
Also, I will give them extra material, worksheets or any other material that they would like to have
to learn the days of the week. If students easily understand the days of the week, I will have

week? Discuss their answer.
Read the poem “days of the week”
o S is for Sunday, the first day of the week.
o M is for Monday, time for school don’t over sleep.
o T is for Tuesday, maybe a special day for you.
o W is for Wednesday; half of work is through.
o T is for Thursday, as you struggle along.
o F is for Friday, it’s time to play and have fun.
o S is for Saturday, ending the week.

MIDDLE:
Teaching: How does the lesson develop?
How we teach new concepts, processes (e.g., gradual release of responsibility - modeled, shared, and
guided instruction).
Show the students the calendar and pointing at each day of the week name them. Explain students
that the week start on Sunday and ends on Saturday in the calendar. Explain them that the days of
the week have an order to follow.
Explain students that we have seven days per week, the first day is Sunday, second day Monday,
third day is Tuesday, fourth day is Wednesdays, fifth day is Thursday, sixth day is Friday, and the
seventh day is Saturday.
Ask students if they have any question and answer their questions, then ask students if they are
confused about Tuesday and Thursday. And explain them that Tuesday goes first than Wednesday
and then goes Thursday.
Explain students how do we uses the days of the week. Ask them why they think the days of the
week are important and explain their answers.
Ask students to repeat after you the day of the week. Ask students to recite the days of the week
by their own as a class.
Application: What will learners do to demonstrate their learning? (Moving from guided, scaffolded
practice, and gradual release of responsibility.)
Give each students a worksheet, glue and colors pencils, ask students to paste the days of the week
in their specific order. Ask student to pick a different color for each day of the week. This can help
students to memorize and learn the days of the week. Give about 25 minutes for students to work
on their calendar. Add more time if it is need it.

7. My Reflections on the Lesson
What do I need to do to become more effective as a teacher in supporting student learning?
o I have to become more effective in find a way that I can teach the days of the week without number
and colors, this can be confusing for some students.
