Portfolio Artifact Description: Graffiti Painting and fictional story-Using an original picture,
create a creature and make a story.

What you learned: I learned so much from this assignment. It’s the first time I worked with
Microsoft paint. The learning curve wasn’t as long as the last project. I build from what I learned
and carried on to this one. It is fun to see how you can edit the picture from color to cropping.
Also, playing with the different types of brushes was fun. You then develop a strategy. The
project came to full circle when you create the story. Initially, with no sense of direction, I just
drew him. I didn’t know what the creature was to become. He looked so unreal and then I
thought he could be an imaginary friend. A friend that can help you get out of tough situations. I
could definitely see the use of this project, with my future students.
ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for STUDENTS (NETS)•S
Addressed: Standard #6 6b Students create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix
digital resources into new creations.
Application of Skills Learned for the Future: It is an awesome assignment for language arts.
Kids can develop their creativity by giving them the ability to create whatever they want. It also
helps lighting up the classroom by having the teacher as the original photo. Letting them create
their story would even incorporate concepts of the English curriculum. As a teacher I can use this
project to help introduce myself. For example I can make myself into a creature, tell them a
funny story and reveal the creature’s identity as myself. The students wouldn’t see me as
intimidating.
