6. UNITED NATIONS POPULATION FUND (UNPF)

Established in: 1969

. Reproductive health care for women and youth in more than 150 countries – which are home to
more than 80 per cent of the world’s population.

. The health of pregnant women, especially the 1 million who face life-threatening complications
each month.

. Prevention of gender-based violence, which affects 1 in 3 women.

. Training of thousands of health workers to help ensure at least 90 per cent of all childbirths are
supervised by skilled attendants.
Action Against Hunger

Established in 1979

1. The mission of Action Against Hunger is to save lives by eliminating hunger


through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, especially
during and after emergency situations.
2. From crisis to sustainability, it tackles the underlying causes of malnutrition
and its effects by using expertise in nutrition, food security, water and
sanitation, health and advocacy.

BREAD FOR THE WORLD

Established in: 1974

 Its mission is to end hunger


 It invites churches across the country to take up a nationwide offering of letters to congress on
an issue that is important to hungry people
 Its aim is to end hunger at home and abroad
 It changes the policies, programs and conditions that allow hunger and poverty to persist
 It provides help and opportunity far beyond the communities in which people live to end hunger
Heifer International

Established in 1944
1. The mission of Heifer International is to empower people and help
them get out of poverty.
2. Part of the way they do this is by donating livestock such as cows,
goats, chickens, etc., or funding similar programs.,
3. Heifer Project International is a sustainable development
organization that works to end hunger and poverty and protect the
earth.
4. Through livestock, training and Passing on the Gift, Heifer has
helped 15.5 million families in more than 125 countries improve
their quality of life.
