Unable to adjust brightness after Windows 10 upgrade

Symptom

Unable to adjust brightness after Windows 10

Solution

A. Enabling and Reinstalling the PNP Monitor

Solutions 1

1. Go to Control Panel > Search for Device Manager

 
2. Under Monitors expand the menu
3. Right click on Generic PnP Monitor and click Enable

4. Restart machine

Solutions 2

If you are running TeamViewer, it installs a "PnP-Monitor (Standard)" driver which causes issues to the brightness, You need to
install the “Generic PnP” Monitor instead

Its best to check anyway if "PnP-Monitor (Standard)" is installed you will need to replace it with “Generic PnP” Monitor instead

1. Go to Control Panel > Search for Device Manager

2. Under Monitor expand the menu


3. Right click on PnP-Monitor (Standard) and click update Driver Software
4. Click Browse my computer for driver software

 
5. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

 
6. Select Generic PnP Monitor and click "Next"

 
7. Restart machine

B. Rollback to previous version of driver

If you had recently updated your driver or performed a windows update the newly installed driver that tagged along with the
update could be causing problems, A role back to your previous display monitor could fix this issue

1. Go to Control Panel > Search for Device Manager

 
2. Select Display adapters and scroll down
3. Right click on Inter(R) HD Graphics select Properties option

( Note : You may be using a different display adapter then the one displayed here )

 
4. Go to tab Drivers in the pop up window
5. Push the Rollback Driver button (If Rollback Driver is grayed out which means NO earlier versions were installed)

 
6. Restart machine
7. If the above solutions don’t work for you or the rollback options is grayed out  please follow option C below to update
your display driver

2. Visit our support site (https://support.lenovo.com) > Select your Product > Click Drivers and Software’s > Choose
Window 10 & Display and Video Graphics

Important Note: If you are unable to find any Windows 10 drivers from our support site  for the model of your product
please check our Windows 10  compatible list below to see if your machine is compatible with the Windows 10
upgrade,Lenovo will not provide Windows 10 drivers  for machines that are not compatible with Window 10

3. If you have successfully updated your driver it will normally automatically turn off the Generic PnP Monitor mention in
step A, Please follow step A (Solution 1) again to enable the Generic PnP Monitor again
4. Restart machine
