1 Definition of Tawheed

Tawheed (Arabic: ‫)توحيد‬, is a concept in Islamic aqeedah which expresses the oneness of Allah. Tauhid is
taken as the word: Wahhada Yuwahhidu Tauhidan which means to rule. One syllable with the word
wahid which means one or the word ahad which means esa. In the teachings of Islam Tawheed means
the belief in the oneness of Allah. The Tauhid sentence is the sentence La Illaha Illallah which means
there is no God but Allah.

Tawhid is the core and basis of all Islamic values and norms, so Islam is therefore known as a
monotheistic religion, which is a religion that imposes God. Even Islamic purification movements are
known as the muwahhidin movement (which fights for tauhid). In the development of the history of the
Muslims, monotheism has developed into the name of one branch of Islamic science, namely the science
of Tawheed which is the study and discussion of problems related to faith, especially those concerning
the problem of the Almighty of Allah.

Tawhid is divided into 3 types, namely:

Tauhid Rububiyah

Tauhid Rububiyah is a belief about the unity of God in His actions.

Tauhid Asthma and Nature

Tauhid Asma and Traits are beliefs about the oneness of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in His name and
character which is contained in the Qur'an and Al Hadith completed by believing in their meanings and
laws.

Tauhid Uluhiyah

Tauhid Uluhiyah is to disperse Allah in the purpose of the acts of servants carried out in the framework
of taqorub and worship such as praying, bernadzar, sacrificing sacrifice, trusting, repenting, and others.

2 Position of Tawheed

A Muslim believes that monotheism is the greatest foundation of Islam and the greatest essence of
Islam, and is one of the conditions for receiving deeds in addition to having to comply with the guidance
of the Prophet.

Basically humans have known God even though globally, the messengers of Allah's messenger were sent
not to introduce God alone. But the essence of the mission of the Apostles was to demand that they
worship only to Him. Thus the material of the apostles' da'wah is Tauhid Uluhiyah. Therefore the term
tauhid when mentioned freely (without being given other information) then he refers more to Tauhid
Uluhiyah.

Tawhid is the Purpose of Man's Creation, Allah says,

"And I did not create jinn and humans but they worshiped Me." (Adz-Dhariyat: 56)

the purpose of the word worship in this verse is to monopolize Allah in all forms of worship as explained
by Ibn Abbas rodhiyallahu ‘anhu, a friend and interpreter. This verse expressly states that the purpose of
creating jinn and humans in this world is only to worship God alone. They are not created to spend your
time playing and having fun. As the word of God,

"And We did not create heaven and earth and everything between them by playing. If we were to make
a game, we would have made it from our side. If we want to do so. "(Al Anbiya: 16-17).

"Then do you think that indeed We created you playfully, and that you will not be returned to Us?" (Al-
Mu’minun: 115)

In addition, tauhid is also the purpose of sending several apostles to the face of the earth, in this case
Allah says, "And indeed We have sent messengers to each people (to call): 'Worship Allah, and stay away
from Thaghut'." (An -Nahl: 36). The meaning of this verse is that the Apostles starting from Noah to the
last Prophet of our Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam was sent by Allah to invite his
people to worship only to Allah alone and not to associate Him with anything. So the question for us now
is "Have we fulfilled the call of our Apostle Muhammad sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam to worship only.

4. deviations in Tawheed

this deviation of monotheism is divided into three namely:

A. Deviations in Tauhid Rububiyyah

Deviations in tawhid rububiyyah namely by believing in the existence of those who created, controlled,
and regulated this universe other than Allah Azza wa Jalla in terms of which only God Almighty
supported.

Like the belief that the ruler and regulator of the South Sea is Nyi Roro Kidul. This is a false belief.
Whoever believes that the ruler and regulator of the southern sea is Nyi Roro Kidul, he has committed
shirk (associating partners with Allah Almighty) in His Rububiyyah. Because only Allah is the one who
controls and regulates this universe.
Likewise, anyone who believes that what governs grain is Dewi Sri, meaning she has been shirked in
terms of His Rububiyyah, because only Allah is the Almighty Who Created and Regulates this universe.

Believing that certain objects can provide protection and help against him such as amulets, kris, rings,
stones, trees, and others.

As well as the belief that some of the trustees could give rizki, and could also give blessings, also
included the shirk in His Rububiyyah.

Among other deviations, namely the Zoroastrians who believed in the existence of a Creator of
Goodness and the Creator of ugliness, this also contradicted the aqidah that was straight.

B. Deviations in uluhiyyah monotheism.

Deviations in this type of monotheism are by turning worship to other than Allah Almighty, such as
praying to the grave or grave expert, asking for help from the genie, asking for blessings for certain
people, relying on their fate (certain things), such as stones, amulets, rings, kris, and the like. Because of
prayer and resignation, including worship, it must be addressed only to Allah Almighty.

C. Deviations in Tawheed Al-Asma 'wa Ash Shifat:

- Do not believe that Allah Almighty has these perfect qualities. Even though it has been mentioned in
the Qur'an or in the hadith of the Prophet sallalla aih alaihi wa Sallam who is saheeh.

- Similar to the attributes of Allah Almighty with the attributes of His creatures. Even though Allah
Almighty has believed (meaning):

"There is nothing like God and He is Hearing, Seeing." [Ash Shura: 11].

- Distorting or interpreting the meaning of Al-Asma'ul Husna, which leads to the elimination of the
attributes of Allah Almighty.

- Determine the way of the attributes of Allah Almighty, which leads to the likeness of His creatures.

If the three monotheists above are incomplete, then a servant can diminish his faith or even leave Islam.

4. Efforts to purify Tawheed. To clean and purify monotheism, three things must be fulfilled:

First, having perfect knowledge about tauhid. Because it is impossible for someone to clean something
without first knowing and understanding something. Allah Ta'ala said,
‫لفاَمعللمم ألننهه لل إإللهل إإنل ن‬
‫اه‬

"Then know that there is no true worshiper but Allah alone." (Surah Muhammad [47]: 19).

In this verse, Allah Ta'ala commands to be informed first, before uttering the sentence of tawhid.

Second, believing in the truth of monotheism which he has learned. If someone only knows (knows), but
does not believe it and even denies it, then he does not cleanse his monotheism. Allah Ta'ala says about
the pride of unbelievers who do not believe in the oneness of Allah as the only worship - whereas they
have understood the meaning of laa ilaaha illallah-,

‫أللجلعلل امللإهلةل إإللههاَ لواإحهدا إإنن هللذا لللشميءء هعلجاَ ء‬

‫ب‬

"Why did he (Muhammad) make only one of the worshipers? Indeed this is a very surprising thing.
"(Surah Shaad [38]: 5).

Third, practice monotheism with full submission. If we have learned and believed, but we do not want to
practice it with full submission, then we have not yet cleansed its monotheism. Allah Ta'ala said,
‫إإننههمم لكاَهنوا إإلذا إقيلل للههمم لل إإللهل إإنل ن‬
‫اه يلمستلمكبإهرولن‬

"Indeed, when they were told to them, 'laa ilaaha illallah', they boasted." (QS. Ash-Shaffat [37]: 35)

If these three things have been fulfilled and someone really cleanses and purifies his monotheism, then
the guarantee of heaven is available to him without reckoning and without adzab. In this case, we do not
need to say "In syaa Allah" because it is a law established by the shari'ah.
