Abstract: Article 4
IMPACT OF PYROMETALLURGICAL TREATMENT OF WASTE LACQUERED
COPPER WIRE ON WORKING QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENT
This article is based directly about of an extractive metallurgy process can affect the work
environment and the environment, in this case is analyzed through a pyrometallurgical process.
The subjects of this investigation are the type and amount of residual emissions that occur
during the treatment of residual copper lacquered wires and the evaluation of their impact on
the quality of the workspace and the environment.
In the process of casting copper wire scrap is usually carried out without the treatment or
isolation of the lacquer, therefore it has to do a slightly different process than that used to
obtain the copper wires, a medium frequency induction furnace with a silicon carbide AC 100
pot as in the "Birlek" electric arc furnace and studies were carried out to determine the
possibilities of eliminating or reducing the lacquer and ways of processing the lacquered wire to
maximize the use of copper waste and obtain a secondary raw material for the manufacture of
new products. The main factors of this investigation are the different residual emissions
produced by this process and the evaluation of its impact.
For the procedure, it is necessary to perform the fusion with a suitable system to remove the
dust and the suction of harmful emissions produced, this system is taken in the oven mentioned
above. The electric arc furnace has a significantly higher melting temperature than the
induction cooker, which can lead to a greater loss of metal during the oxidation. The sample is
heated to temperatures between 1150 °C and 1180 °C with the aid of fluxing materials and
charcoal, then the degassing is carried out using a product based on an ammonium salt, the
gases and powders are purified in a scrubber, which is connected by a system of pipes from the
place where the melting is done, the burnt waste of lacquer is mixed with the charcoal that
provides a good protection against the oxidation of the molten material and therefore the losses
are very low.
The measurements of emissions of harmful substances were carried out in the ventilation
system that emits emissions of waste into the environment, and those of harmful substances
were measured in the atmosphere of the work environment, the permissible emission limit
values must be taken into account to know if the process is feasible and studies were carried out
to determine ecologically justified ways of processing residual lacquered wire in order to
maximize its use, , it is also necessary to design an effective ventilation system that has the
ability to capture, purify and store CO, gaseous organic substances, total C and particulate
matter to avoid environmental and health problems.
