Tools for bamboo carpentry

The sidama people traditionally use a with a flat hook at the tip for their bamboo carpentry.
The machete part of tool is used to cut the culm and the tip is slashed parallel to the fiber
into the culm and leveraged to split it. They then slice the rough splits into thinner slivers
which are used either for weaving their mats, baskets or outer layers of houses.
This multipurpose specialized knife is a baseline of the bamboo construction toolkit, it is
used intensively for the construction of almost all parts of the building elements. A good
artesian need only a few tools but may require years to become adept at using them to the
desired level of perfection.
