What is Art?

- Art is the human objective to imitate life and the world into something beautiful
Elements of Art?
1. Subject – is the target or thing in the environment
2. Medium – the things or materials that composed art; tools to produce the subject
The Importance of Art?

- According to the book of theoretical foundations of nursing, nursing is also an art

because it has rationale in every actions or movements. It is more than just knowing but
also doing. Because of this, we are able to achieve the utmost holistic care the patient
needs and be able to guide them during their recovery process
Difference between prose and poetry:
1. Prose – Ideas are contained in sentences that are arranged into paragraphs;
typically, straightforward without much decoration; Most everyday writing
2. Poetry - Ideas are contained in lines that may or may not be sentences. Lines are
arranged in stanzas; typically reserved for expressing something special in an artistic
way; tends to be more expressive or decorated, with comparisons, rhyme, and
rhythm contributing to a different sound and feel.

1. Architecture - It is the art and science of designing buildings and other nonbuilding
structures.

Local: Ildefonso P. Santos – The father of Philippine landscape architecture
Works: Makati Commerical Center and Manila’s Paco Park
International: Zaha Hadid - was the first woman to receive Pritzker Architecture Prize in
2004 and was named a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II herself (2012), for her services to
architecture.

2. Literature - Literature are written works collectively, especially those of enduring
importance, exhibiting creative imagination and artistic skill

International: Ko Un - from a peasant background, which makes his literary
accomplishment all the more notable.

3. Music - It is the art of creating sounds that are sung by voices or played on an
instrument.
Local: Yeng Constantino - In 2006, she won the title "Grand Star Dreamer" in the
inaugural season of Pinoy Dream Academy

4. Painting - the process or art of using paint, in a picture, as a protective coating, or as
decoration.
Local: Juan Luna y Novicio - one of the first internationally-recognized Filipino painters

International: Claude Monet - was the primary inspiration for the new art movement of
impressionism.

 5. Theater - a form of literature written by a playwright, usually consisting of dialogue
between characters, intended for theatrical performance rather than just reading.

6. Sculpture – artistic form in which hard or plastic materials are worked into three-
