Abstract
The following information will discuss in detail the attitudes and responses of how
individuals feel about having a homosexual teacher teach their children. I will be showing
in detail the gender of those who responded as well as the overall results and even the
education level of those who responded. It is my intention to show how close minded some
can be about those who choose to be homosexual. Whether they feel that they don’t have
the knowledge a heterosexual teacher will have or that they may influence their child to be
homosexual or that they may try to have sexual relations with their child is unknown, but
either way ones sexual preference has nothing to do with their capability to teach children.

Introduction: As stated the following information will be about one attitude about
homosexual teachers teaching their children. The following question was asked on a
website called www.ask500people.com although not that many people answered the
question there was quite a few to see at least somewhat of what peoples feeling were
towards those who choose to be homosexual. The following information may be a shock to
some of how shallow or close minded people can be, to think that someone cannot do their
job because of their personal sexual preference. However it is are decisions whether we
want to have our children taught by someone who is homosexual or heterosexual, male or
female. However that should not be the first thing we worry about. Below is the link to the

Hypothesis: It is my belief that there will be more individuals that will feel that
homosexual teachers should not be allowed to teach children. Most who feel this way will
be from different countries or states, which in that case may be understandable do to the
different beliefs and laws that may go on in their country. However I believe that majority
of those who don’t feel that homosexuals are capable or trusted to teach children are
people in the U.S. who are just very close minded people a little old fashion and ignorant.

Along with the about hypothesis it is also my belief that those who don’t believe in having a
homosexual teacher teach their children are males. This is because most males are
homophobic and don’t care to be around them or their family. In addition I think that most
males are really only homophobic to males who are homosexual because it males they
want and in some way feel that the man may want them or their children.

Rationale: When deciding on this question I really wanted to know how close minded
people where and what the thoughts of people from different states or countries really
thought. I think that it really mean and ignorant of people to think that someone can be
incapable of teaching children because of their sexual preference. It’s not the teachers’
intent or responsibility to teach the child about sex or to tell the child who they should and
shouldn’t date. They are there to teach math science, history and etc.

Teachers in general are questionable when it comes to trusting or allowing them to teach
children. However this is not because of their sexual preference they should be judged or
questioned about but it’s because of their knowledge and capability to truly get through to
the children. There are so many teachers who are not good at teaching or don’t truly have
the desire or just don’t care about truly getting through to the teachers or helping those
who fall through the cracks. So instead of being so focus on the teachers personal life
parents should be more concern with the teachers’ knowledge and experience.

Results: To my surprise I found that those who responded to my question were very open
minded people who were not so much worried about the teachers’ person life style. 90% of
the respondent s happens to be fine with allowing and or trusting their child to be taught
by a homosexual teacher while 10% believed that their child should not. All were at least
high school graduates and some even had master degrees and Ph.D.’s. With this being said
this should have meant that parents should and would know that the personal preference
of one’s person life should have nothing to do with the capability of teaching children in
school.

Results: As predicted however at for the gender of those who were not in favor of
homosexual teachers, I was right in thinking that respondents with this disapproval would
be males. Surprisingly though only 9% of the males believed this, while about 61% of males
where okay with it. Another thing that surprised me was the fact that countries like Japan,
Netherland, Poland and Australia (just to name a few) were okay with having homosexuals
teach their children not one person voted against it in the following places, which surprise
me the most because I thought for sure that they would be so against the approval of an
homosexual person in general.

Discussion:

The following data truly gave me a clear picture on what people really think about
homosexual people in general whether they are teachers or cashiers. Most were fine with
their children being taught by a homosexual teacher and then there a few who were a little
ignorant about the whole thing. Overall I was pleased to see that I was wrong about what
most would say. It really shows how much some of us have grown. Although discrimination
against homosexuals is still going on, it does show that there are a lot of people who know
that one’s personal preference has nothing to do with the ability to do their job or anything
else for that matter.

It shouldn’t be important when someone’s job has nothing at all to do with their personal
life, now had they been trying to take on being a pastor at a Baptist church then, there
sexual preference would be something that you looked at, because then their teaching to
the congregation might have been the wrong teaching that the church needed or believed
in. It important that we not shut the door on people because we don’t like certain things
they do, wear or say. If the person is qualified and good at what they do, it’s only right to let
them have the chance to show you what all they can do for you and or others.
