Overall Reflection

How have(n’t) your reading habits changed from the beginning of the year? Do you think it will

continue? Will you keep reading different genres or only your favorite? Explain.

My reading habits definitely have changed since junior year but unfortunately they did not change

much as senior year progressed. During all of junior year I read a total of 8 books and this year I read a

total of 12 books. I am glad that my amount of books read went up by 4 books. I read many different

genres and books that I usually would not have read prior to this year. I will continue to read different

genres because I find that I really enjoy something new!

You were asked to conference each quarter. How did the conferences go for you?

I conferenced with Ms. Stein either one or two times every quarter and did not find that it was a

good experience. While it is supposed to be a check-in to see how everything is going and what I can do

to improve myself, I felt as if it was just a time to be called out. I did enjoy talking to her but I do believe

that there should be more understanding with students that have lots of other classes homework and

extracurricular activities after school.

How have you grown as a reader? What caused change?

As a reader I have broadened my horizon and have experienced reading different genres of books

that I normally would not have read before. While I may have not displayed change to Ms. Stein, I feel

like I did change as a reader. I read more outside of school for fun than I ever have and I will continue to

do this during college and during summertime because it is relaxing.

How do you define yourself as a reader?

I would define myself as a strong reader but I know that I can definitely be reading more. I find

that I used to read when it is absolutely necessary like it was a chore but now I sometimes read for fun.

I said I wanted to read 13 books and I read a total of 12. I am proud that I got so close to my goal.

Are there any changes to the reading requirements that should be made next year?

Yes, the amount of pages per week should be lessened. It is hard to read 200 pages were week

while I have other schoolwork and sports to do.
