Robert F. Kennedy once said, “The purpose of life is to contribute in some way to

making things better.” (Marsh). This quote has affected me in a very positive manner. Everyone

has their own life experience and meaning of life but, in the end, we all want what is best for us

and makes us happy. The most important things that matter in my life is my family, becoming a

better person spiritually, and becoming successful in life.

Firstly, Loving and caring for a family is my ultimate goal in life. Without having a family

and people who care for you can be very harmful to the state of mind. Based on the article

“separation of their parents may cause extreme stress and, in the worst case, even depression.”

(Asha). Nonetheless, my parents were separate but I believe this shaped me into who I am

today. If we use excuses in life just like we do when we don’t turn in our homework, this will

continue to happen and put us at a lower level and climbing a hole so deep down can become

harder for us. Families are what make a home, home to me. For example, when I was at my

lowest times, it was my family who gave me my confidence back and supported me in

everything I did. Not once has anyone in my family ever disappointed me and when I am with

them all the stress I would be carrying goes away. I could never return the favors they have

done for me, I admire their values in life and look up to them and would only like to see them as

happy as I would be when I have kids in the future.

Secondly, value isn’t from materialistic items but rather from things of true value, again

like family, relationships with a partner, friends and especially god. It's natural for us humans to

want the most designer products, nice cars and lots of money but does it truly matter if you can’t

be satisfied and always want more? This is something I always tell myself and prosper on

because in the end when someone dies they aren’t buried with materialistic things. As myself

being Muslim, I have faith in a god and would be taking my chances if for instance there really

isn’t a god. I would still be happy if I was spiritually stronger in religion. Not only this if I become

more religious I can avoid many harmful things for my health, based on an article “the actively

religious are generally less likely than the unaffiliated to smoke and drink. Religions often frown

on certain unhealthy behaviors, and that tendency seems reflected in data on smoking and

drinking.” (Marshall). There is no harm in religion only benefits and helps you learn more about

life no matter what beliefs and religion you have, its always to make you a better person in life

and the hereafter. You can always buy a new car, clothes or material items, but we aren’t able

to buy a new mom, dad or brother and sisters. This is why I aspire to stay close to my loved

ones and also guide them to have their values straight and increase their religious beliefs

making their life’s happier and also mine for helping them.

Of course, we cannot live without paying bills and being in debt. So I definitely value

education and having a very successful career. Because in order to help my family and be

where I want to be in life I would need some capital and this capital can be an incentive for

being determined, working hard in school and showing that I actually became successful. I want

to get my family the things they would want and seeing them happy is what drives me to

become successful and motivated. As a child my family struggled with money and also as I was

growing up, I want to make up for that because for example, my parents would spend all the

money they had on things I would need for me to be happy but I never thought about how things

were in the past and want to make up for that and anyone in my family who needs help. “If you

were born poor, it’s not your fault. But if you die poor it is.”. This was said from a man who was

very poor and didn’t have much education either but is one of the richest men on earth now, Bill

Gates. Although he is one out of a million, I aspire to be as successful as him and his story, not

the money he has earned but the way he began grinding for what he wanted in life.

Not everyone will agree with each other on what is right or what is wrong but we can

come to a generalization that the true value to life and what everyone’s ultimate goals are to

have positive vibes and things that make us happier in life.
