Macbeth summary

- Banquo and Macbeth defeat the Norwegian forces lead by the traitor Macdonald
and the thane of Cawdor. Macbeth kills Macdonald via slice in half
- Upon exiting the battlefield, Macbeth and Banquo stumble across three measly
witches who prophesize that Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor and later
become king and that Banquo will birth a line of kings.
- Upon returning to Dunsinane, King Duncan names Malcolm Prince of
Cumberland.
- Macbeth is named Thane of Cawdor
- A messenger comes to Lady Macbeth and informs her that the king will be
coming tonight
- Macbeth kills King Duncan and returns to Lady Macbeth with the knives which
forces her to bring them back to the scene
- Macbeth and the Lady return to their chambers as to pretend not to have done it
- When the castle is roused Macbeth kills his to chamberlains to silence any
witnesses.
- Donalbain flees to Ireland and Malcolm to England for fear of getting killed
themselves and Macbeth is named king
- Macduff doesn’t go to the coronation
- Macbeth meets with the two murderers and convinces them to kill Banquo
- The three murderers kill Banquo but his son Fleance flees
- Macbeth holds a dinner in his castle and is startled when he sees a ghost sitting in
his chair, forcing him to create a scene. Lady Macbeth tries to pass it off but fails
and sends everyone home, cancelling the dinner.
- Macbeth returns to visit the 3 witches who tell him to beware of Macduff the
Thane of Fife; that no man of woman born shall ever hurt Macbeth and that
Macbeth will never be killed until the Great Birnam Wood comes to Dunsinane
