Abstract : According to Bowden in (Food Agriculture Organization, 2008)

distinguishes the semi arid region into two major climatic classifications based on
the tropical and semi-arid tropics around the equator and the "steppe" in the sub
tropical region. This area has less rainfall 250-500 mm per year (Hugget, 2007).
Considering the fact that the use of diapers in the world is sharp, various studies
and experiments have been conducted by many scientists in the world, even the
Indonesian Ministry of Environment has also tried to use this waste as a mixture
to plant as a solution to reduce the number of diaper waste. Of course it is a good
way but to be a hydroponic planting medium will be more effective, because the
gel on the diaper can absorb water maximally. Hydropok system that will be
developed in the semi arid region by making the gel in the diaper as a storage
media of water and nutrients that will then be mixed with sand as a planting
medium that can become agricultural land for food crops in large scale and
integrated. Hydropok becomes the right solution for diaper waste problem which
is also a double solution to optimize the land in semi arid area to increase food
availability in the world.

INTRODUCTION
Planting through hydroponic methods is a common and effective way to
use in the cultivation of plants in areas with limited land. One of the countries that
managed to develop this way is Singapore. According to data mentioned by the
Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, vegetables produced through the hydroponics
system is 17%. This method is also able to be a planting medium for plants that
can not be planted on land that has low fertility levels such as vegetables, nuts,
also fruits. Simple hydroponics need only the containers that grow plants and
materials that can absorb and store water and nutrients needed by plants. One of
the ingredients that can store water and nutrients in the hydroponics method is the
gel on baby diapers that is now also a problem for the environment.
Globally the rate of use of diapers or pampers is very high at
6,840,507,000. Based on data obtained from the Sanitation Office of the
Municipality of Arnem, the Netherlands pile of baby diapers reached 180 million
kilos per year. The Ministry of Environment responds to this by processing diaper
waste into a hydroponic planting medium. Looking at the government's only goal
to reduce diaper waste, there is a double solution that will be the way out not only
to reduce diaper waste in the world but also to increase the world's food security
through an integrated diaper hydroponics system.
The management of this type of territory encountered various obstacles
both from the soil structure and climatic factors so that the agricultural output is
very less. If the land in this area can be optimized then the world's food
production materials will increase. One solution for crop management in this area
is by hydroponic method. Therefore we have a way out through the hydroponics
system by utilizing the gel from baby diaper waste to optimize the land in the
semi-arid region type to increase the availability of world food.

METHODOLOGY
 Place and Time of Implementation
Place of execution in the workshop majoring in semi arid region In
Indonesia like Nusa Tenggara and all of semi arid region type in the whole
world.
 Tools and Materials
Tools used are scissors for editing diapers to pick up gels and
agricultural tools and necessary materials in the form of diapers, polybags,
sand, organic fertilizers, water and plant seeds..
 Design and Development Process
Hydropok is an integrated way of planting that can nourish the plants and does not
require daily watering but requires intensive monitoring. .

Picture 1.Flow diagram

From the flowchart will be a explain about step to do hydropok system.

Implementation of this program through several stages of a regular and structured.
These stages include;
1. Research and trial
Researchers conducted research and trial on the area to be used, the types
of plants and the behavior used to planting by means of hydropok.
2. Mapping the room and making racks
To undertake activities it is necessary to know the area and the land
photographer and the making of the shelf to organize the pot.
3. Prepare the tools and materials needed for planting purposes
In the hydropok system the tool used is to diaper to collect gel and
agricultural equipment and the necessary materials in the form of diapers,
polybags, sand, organic fertilizers, air and plant seeds.
4. Planting
The main stage in this implementation program is planting by planting
with hydropok system.
5. Perform monitoring, control and evaluation
During the planting period using the hydropok system, it is necessary to
monitor and control once every two weeks with watering. Throughout
time, system and excess hydropok.
6. Cooperate with the cleanliness agency
Establish a relationship with the cleanliness agency to facilitate the
beneficial diaper income as a growing medium.
7. Cooperate with the agricultural service
Establish cooperation with the agricultural service to support and help
socialize the hydropok problem as a new planting system.
8. Working in cooperation with the media
Media in this case to publish hydropok to the public, people can know and
do planting with hydropok system.

FINDINGS
Hydropok system reduces the intensity of watering in the process of
recording because the gel in the baby's diaper is able to store water and nutrients
in a long time and in considerable volume. Implementation of this system can be
done in the semi-arid area with a narrow land or large land because it is applied
with a rack-making that can be adjusted to the land area. The shelf is used as a
place to put pots or polybags for the hydroponic planting medium.
Hydropok will not depend on the season in planting especially rainfall in
semi-low area, so farmers can plant periodically. If in a period of one year the
farmers do the planting without stopping there will be 9x harvest and will get the
results of 5.9940 types of plants on an area of 1 ha.

CONCLUSIONS
Hydropok is a hydroponic cropping system that utilizes gel in baby diapers
combined with sand media as well as organic fertilizer as a way of optimizing
land in semi arid region.
