➢ Patient Assistance Program
This project aids indigent patients in need of financial assistance. This is a basically the heart
of Lingkod E.R. since all funds that the org raised will go to those who are in need.

➢ Medical missions
We go to our partner community and offer them basic healthcare.

➢ Emergency Room Volunteer Program

Student volunteers are given the opportunity to observe and learn about the circumstances
that happen inside the E.R.. Student volunteers are supervised by nurses or medical interns of
UST during their shifts.

➢ Emergency Training Seminars

Emergency training seminars are a way for students to learn emergency techniques and
protocols that can be used in the future.

➢ Science/Medical-related Seminars
These seminars aim to educate volunteers and help them understand the topic at hand. For
example, “So Stressedt! A seminar on handling and managing stress” this seminar focuses on
stress management and how one can deal with stress.

➢ Health Awareness Campaigns

Health Awareness campaigns increase the public awareness of the effects of lifestyle on
health.

4. How did Lingkod E.R.-UST started? Who is its founder?

Lingkod E.R. was founded by Dr. Luisa Puyat back in 1997. Back when she was taking her
final year of her pre-med course in UP, she was exposed to the harsh reality of what actually
happens inside the emergency room. She witnessed a great number of patients who suffer
due to financial problems, this is where she decided to build her own organization. Lingkod
E.R. shoulders the cost of emergency healthcare incurred by the poor in the E.R., so they can
be treated with respect and dignity that each individual deserves.
