Introduction

In digital communication system, information intended to be transferred in analog for

example signals. But unfortunately, analog signal for example speech or music has been mostly
replaced by digital signal because the characteristic of digital signal has the ability to prevent the
interferences of noise that can be occurred in analog signal. Therefore, the analog signal that will
be transfer will be converted into digital signal first. This converting process of analog signals
required a sampling process which requires the analog signal to be measured at regular interval.
There are two method of sampling which is known as “natural” sampling and “sample-and-hold”
sampling scheme.

Objective
To investigated the effect of aliasing, the construction of the sampled message and the sampling
process of a message using natural sampling and sample-and-hold sampling.

Discussion

1. What is the type of sampling process in instruction Part A #5? Explain your answer.

- It is natural sampling process. It is because according to the lab manual, the sampled message followed
the shape of the original message. This is because the message signal sampled ‘naturally’ with the rate
of sampling signal.

2. What is the type of the sampling process in instruction Part A #7? Explain your answer.
- It is sample-and-hold sampling method. This is because the sample’s size is fixed at the instant the
message signal is measured.
