LAB 3:

Objective: To learn how to install window 7 on a PC.

Apparatus: Personal Computer & Window 7 CD

Important Info:

 You need to prepare your computer before initiating the

installation of windows
 Since you’re installing a completely new OS. all the
programs on your computer will be deleted.
 Back-up all of your files and storage to any external device
ie. DVD, USB or to any other partition of the device
 Make sure you write down the windows product key. This
is required for completing the activation
 You need at least 10GB of space to install the window

 Insert the window disk and restart the device to begin the
setup
 Enter your computer's BIOS. Turn off the computer that
you want to install Windows on then turn it back on.
When the BIOS screen appears or you are prompted to
do so, press F10, or F9 (depending on your computer’s
motherboard) to enter the system BIOS. The key to enter
the BIOS is usually shown on the screen.


 Go to the boot menu & Select the CD-ROM drive as
the first boot device of your computer, this will run
the boot from the CD inserted.

 Press the button indicated on the screen or select the

save option from the BIOS menu to save your
configuration and save the changes. Turn off the
computer by choosing the shut-down option in your
current operating system, or hold the power button
until the computer powers off.
 Power on the PC with the inserted Windows 7 disc
into your CD/DVD drive.
 Then press any key to continue the setup as the
screen appears and asks to press any key
It will begin the windows setup like in photo under

 This page will appear on the screen
 Choose your Windows Setup options. Once
Windows Setup loads, you'll be presented with a
window. Select your preferred language, keyboard
type, and time/currency format, then click Next.
 After clicking on the next it will redirect to another
page
Click on Install now

Read & then Accept the license agreement and then

click onto the next button.
Select the custom installation option in this page in
order to install a total new version of window without
repairing
 Select the hard drive from the list of hard drives.
 Click Drive options (advanced).
 Select New from Drive options.
 Select the size, and click OK
 Format the drive where you want to install the windows
 Make sure you select the correct drive and don’t format
the other ones
 Click on the next button after doing all of the described above
Install Windows on your preferred hard drive
and partition. Once you've decided on where to
install Windows, select it and click Next.
Windows will begin installing.
Your computer might restart during the process
don’t turn the computer off or press any key no
matter what happens to the computer until
whole of the setup is complete
The computer restarts & returns to the last screen
 The computer restarts again on completing all these
setup options and leads us to this page

 Now Windows is more or less running and

we start doing some of the final
configuration stuff. First, we specify a
default username. This will be the
Administrator user account.

 Next they will ask for the password and

time settings



 Select your time zone and fix the time and click next
 Enter the windows activation code as I
mentioned in the very beginning page to note
down
 Write the code and press next

 Then Connect to any preferable network

After having the internet connection this will update the
settings and activate the window

Windows is activated and totally installed

The computer restarts for the very last time to begin the
usage for the first time
Congratulations you’ve successfully installed the
activated version of windows 7
