This security unlocking key is valid until June 30, 2018.
* Refer to “ECN: 2016-E-0351” for the PC-TOOL V6.0.
* Every April, the security unlocking key file valid until June 30 of the following year is provided with an ECN.

Security Measures for RU PC-TOOL

*RU PC-TOOL is a service tool for setting an image reading device.

Measures and Objectives

A security lock is applied to some functions (MUTL) to address the following
concerns.
1. A user changes the settings by accidentally operating the RU PC-TOOL.
2. Someone other than the engineers with formal training operates the RU PC
TOOL and changes the settings.
* In either case, our reading device may not function properly.
There are no changes made in functions and operation of the RU PC-TOOL
besides working on the registration of the security unlocking key file.

Method for Unlocking the Security Lock

It is possible to use the locked functions by installing the security unlocking
key file distributed with this ECN to the PC having PC-Tool.
The security unlocking key file has an expiration date. Every April, the
security unlocking key file valid until June 30 of the following year is provided
with an ECN.

To use the “MUTL” as a RU PC-TOOL function, register a security unlocking key file, distributed
separately, in the PC (service PC or console PC) using the RU PC-TOOL according to the specified
procedure.

Registration Procedure for Security Unlocking Key File

1. Execute RU PC-TOOL.
2. Click [Key Reg.] on the window and select [License] from the displayed
menu.
3. Explorer starts.
4. Select and register the latest security unlocking key file
“PCToolSecKeyYYYY.key “ provided with the ECN.
YYYY is a four-digit number which is changed every year.

* Registration procedure for the security unlocking key file will also be
described in the Service Manual of each reading device.
