On his On-The-Job Training at Asiaworld Advertising

On-the-job is one of our training ground as a student for us to be able to prepare for our future
profession. Here, we can able to apply all the theories we learned from our school in actual
scenario. I lend my 360 hours at Asiaworld Advertising, Inc. It is an Advertising company wherein
it offers services for different companies. I was assigned in Sales Department and my primary duty
is to give companies in the organization.

On my first week of OJT, they introduced me our company and there I knew that there are huge
companies who are rendering our services. I was really happy the day I was familiarized by the
milestone of our company. Aside from it, I was assigned where my interest is, which is in the Sales
Department. It was not a big company but I appreciated how compact the people inside the
organization. I did not really scared in terms of connecting with them, especially to my fellow
interns and other employees. What I scared was, how will I going to have a cold calling. Because,
I am not that aggressive type of people and I am easily annoyed by pesky people. Cold calling is
calling numbers to offer the goods and services of the company. It is one of the tasks they gave to
me and to be honest I was not able to absurd the details of all the tasks they tried to deliver, because
of some reasons. I admit that I was a slow burner inside the company but it did not demotivated
me yet it challenged me on how I will going to cope with it.

I was really optimistic from the beginning which I think it was one of the weapons I used along
with my training. I searched thoroughly and watched videos of actual cold calling online. I
struggled also on calling different companies; because of limited companies I know. I also go
groceries and malls to look for companies, which they call prospecting.

I was also had trouble on my schedule. Because I have two (2) remaining subjects and six (6)
regular subjects taking and it is quite overload than other. I take 5 to 6 hours duty in our office and
I have to attend my classes after. Here, my perseverance was dared, I have to do both for my goal
-- to become a degree holder. Yet, there are times that I have to set aside one activity because of
the same goal as well. My course required us to take bazaars and other business activities, and due
to the required time allotted to these activities I have to choose, and it is very important that I know
my priorities. Along these overwhelming activities I also have to take care of my health as well. I
was lucky, I became a part of Asiaworld and do consider the time of their interns.

On my next weeks, I was able to join the weekly report of the bosses. There I just simply introduce
the companies I got. It is really terrifying to go inside the room and see all of them in one place. I
gained myself confident; being prepared on all the documents ahead of time; and I learned how to
listen critics in this part of my internship. Yes, it stressing me out every week, but it is a positive
stress.

They also trusted me to become one of the hosts of their 2018 Christmas Party. I used to become
Local Store Marketing or L.S.M of a fast food chain restaurant and I used all my observations and
somehow experiences of my previous job as their host for the event. I feel lucky because I also
took this experience advantageous because we have Event’s Management Subject wherein I could
apply my experience on our activities. And on the day of the event, I was partnered with Ms. Jenny
Jim one of the senior employee of our Department – Sales. It is really intimidating talking to her
because, aside from she is my boss, she is also admirable on her profession. She can work
gracefully without any pressures on her head.

They also appointed us, the interns; for their Valentine’s Day Event. Here, they gave our duty
month ahead. So, we are also able to think for entertaining games and “pakulo’s” for their event.
It was fun mingling with my fellow interns. But at the same time we also have bear with each other
because we have different tastes. We have to eliminate other activities and innovate games for
exciting new entertainment. We also think for other materials needed in the event, such as the
prizes, the souvenirs, the designs, and etc.

I was assigned as well for business development. They were in need of assistant because they are
busy for their activity in Penagbenga Festival in Baguio City. Our company holds the sponsorship
of a company for the said Festival. The tasks given is to fulfill the requirement of our account
specialists. Here, I look for available billboard sites, lamp post banners, and other advertising
collaterals. I was able to practice my coordinating skills, because it must be well coordinated from
our supplier to our sales team and to our client. I also do negotiating the price of our supplier.
This training is indeed help me to enhance and acquire relevant skills and knowledge by
performing in actual work setting, and expose in different kind of advertising collaterals. I also
learned to be more sociable and adjust myself in the environment where I am working at and who
I am working with.

I lend 4 months in the Asiaworld, I learned different things relevant to my course and also which
I can able to use these things for my future venture as an employee or entrepreneur someday. It is
not only these ethics that I will cherish but also the moment that I had with the people of the
company. It is not just a school requirement to be completed but it was also an open opportunity
for me to showcase my skills, knowledge, and talents that I have, and also an opportunity
experience to feel like a professional.
