I am privileged to write this letter of recommendation in support of my student, Jia Yi Miao. I have known Jia
since the beginning of this school year as I am fortunate to have her as a student in my Advanced Placement
English Literature and Composition class at Merced High School. I have witnessed her tremendous growth and
development, academically and personally. It is with much pleasure and sincerity that I write this letter on her
behalf.

Throughout this year, Jia has proven to be a positive and optimistic young woman. She is intelligent, respectful,
and always willing to help others. Academically, she has excelled in all of her classes and has challenged herself
by enrolling in many Advanced Placement and Honors courses. I have witnessed her dedication as a student and
independent worker; yet, she has also grown into a very outgoing leader who interacts with other students in a
positive manner.

In addition to her excellent academic achievement, Jia is actively involved in school clubs and athletics. Jia has
been an important part of the Leo Club on campus for the last two years. She is also a member of the Associated
Pre-Medical Students group and ProStart. In addition to these commitments, Jia has found time to dedicate to
athletics as well. She has been a part of our JV and Varsity Tennis teams for the last two years.

Jia’s hard work is evident in all she does. She is truly a well-rounded and dedicated young lady who still finds
time to volunteer hundreds of hours at various places and events in order to give back to our community. Plus,
she has maintained a job as well. Her dedication and motivation are impressive! Jia’s academic achievement,
work ethic, athletic skills, and strong personal qualities undoubtedly account for her continued success.

I recommend Jia with absolute confidence. As a teacher, it is my job to not only teach the curriculum, but to also
try and teach our youth how to be productive citizens. Jia knows the importance of education and the reward of
strong personal character. She certainly has the desire and potential to succeed. Jia has set extensive goals to
major in Nursing and minor in Public Health. I have absolutely no doubt that Jia will continue to rise to any
challenge that she faces in college and beyond. Overall, her excellent qualities will remain with her and continue
to make her successful in all of her future endeavors. It has sincerely been a pleasure for me to know Jia and be
her teacher. I highly and enthusiastically recommend her.
