DEAD POETS SOCIETY

There are some films that, if you watch them, they immediately catch your attention
and involved you in the plot, and the dead poet’s society is such of them.

Dead poet’s society, this movie takes places at “Welton School”, an academy for
boys which foundations are 4 pillars: Tradition, honor, discipline, and excellence.
Besides, it is a traditional school, with a difficult curriculum and strict teachers, in
which they teach students what to do and in what way, so students feel a terrible
duty and obligation every day hoping their grades are good and enough to pass the
year.

There are two factors that really caught our attention. First of all, Keating, the
graduate teacher from this school with unusual teaching methods he uses in the
classroom that probably makes you laugh. He plays an important role, not because
of the easy teacher that all of us want, but because of the way he shows us that we
have to do the best of us for our life, because the teacher not only have to take part
in the subject itself but also in the person, that is to say, having a very deep impact
on a student’s life.

Moreover, it could be seen that in the movie the teacher act as a guide to students,
he leads them on a path where they learned to think differently, and not guided by
what was said by the traditional education. One of the most inspiring phrases said
by him was: “In my class, you will learn to think for yourselves. You will learn to
taste the word and the language. No matter what they say, words and ideas can
change the world”.

It is important to highlight the teacher’s performance in tense of it is essential that

students improve their critical thinking and that is what he did. He acted out as a

guide in order for their students do not get distracted from the point what really
matters which is to get critical thinking.

In conclusion, the previously named teacher plays the role of encouraging.

Wanting that their students see the good of their matter and life. Motivating them to
be what they want to be and not what others want them to be. He inspires them to
pursue their dreams, which is the most important thing they have. He encourages
them to grow as people, rather than as students who only follow strict and
traditional rules. In this way they, their students, learn valuable lessons that they
would never have imagined learning.
