CHAPTER IV

RESULTS AND INTERPRETATION

This chapter presents the perceptions of students on public display of affection. The first
part presents the socio-demographic profile of the respondents and the last part is composed of
statements about the perceptions of students on public display of affection..

Socio-Demographic Profile of the Respondents

Figure 1 revealed that 4 or 33.33% of the respondents were males and 8 or 66.67% were
females. These data shows that majority of the respondents were females.

Data also presents in Figure 2 that out of 399 respondents, 138 or 34.58% have ages 11-
13 years old, 140 or 35.1% have ages 14-16 years old, 110 or 27.57% have ages 17-19 years old
and 11 or 2.75% have ages 20-22 years old. These data shows that most of the respondents were
ages 14-16 years old.

Figure 3.1 reveals that out of 399 respondent’s mother educational attainment, 139 or
34.84% were elementary graduate, 149 or 37.34% were high school graduate, 79 or19.8% were
college graduate and 32 or 8% were post graduate. It shows that majority of the respondent’s
mother educational attainment is high school graduate.

For the Father’s Educational Attainment, Figure 3.2 reveals that 146 or 36.6% were
elementary graduate, 134 or 33.6% were high school graduate, 67 or 16.8% were college
graduate and 52 or 13% were post graduate. As the results revealed, out of 399 respondents,
majority is elementary graduate.

Data indicates in Figure 4 for Parent’s Monthly Income that 258 or 64.66% have an
income of 50000-10000, 77 or 19.3% have an income of 11001-15000, 36 or 9% have an income
of 15001-20000 and 28 or 7% have an income of 20001 above. It shows that most of the income
of the respondent’s parents is 5000-10000

Moreover, in Figure 5, it was found out that 357 or 89.5% were married, 8 or 2% were
single parent and live in, 6 or 1.5% were widow, 3 or 0.75% were annulled and 17 or 4.26% were
separated. It verifies that most the respondent’s parents are married.
Additionally, Figure 6 come out that, out of 399 respondents, 387 or 97% are Catholic, 5
or 1.25% are Baptist, 3 or .075% are Seventh day Adventist and 4 or 1% are Iglesia ni Cristo. It
is bear out that generality of the respondents are Catholic.

Table 1 indicates that most of the respondents are agree for the negative perceptions. For
the positive perceptions, item number 9, 10 and 14, respondents are undecided, number 11 to 13
respondents are disagree and for the item number 15 respondents are Strongly disagree
