many European countries as each wanted to conquer Indian markets. 1600 the British Merchants received the charter from the queen of England to trade with the eastern countries. This charter gave the East India Company the right to trade for 15 years. Thus, it was the British government who supported the English merchants. if the queen had not given the charter India would not have become slave to the british.
