Artifact Guidelines
*All artifacts must have a grade and/or teacher comment. Use the template provided for all reflections.
#1 Analysis: Breaking down concepts or phenomena and explaining the relationship
between those parts.
Examples: Literary analysis essay, historical research paper, presentation on a math theorem,
science lab, analysis of a work of art, environmental study, market analysis, community health
issue analysis

#2 Argument: Advancing and supporting a position among competing positions.


Examples: Position paper on a controversial historical issue, economics argument paper, book
or art review, science-based editorial, performance in a government debate, video documentary
on a current events topic.

#3 Problem Solving: Proposing and supporting a solution to a problem.


Examples: Long form math problem, computer program, science application, proposal to a town
council, engineering design brief, business plan, theater set design proposal

#4 Professional Resume: Choose one of five


Choose one of five resumes available to you on the Google Docs templates. Log into Google
with your Schoology log-in. Go to Docs and click on template and scroll down until you see the
section “Resumes”. Choose one of the 5 templates and replace information with your own.

#5 Job Application: Form Provided


Type and fill in the job application available to you.

#6 Mock Interview: 11th Grade Mock Interview


Mock interview rubric given to by your 11th grade teacher. See Mrs. Vasquez in G28 for help.

#7 Growth Over Time: Compare Work


Select one of the Academic Preparedness competencies to demonstrate your growth over time
by comparing at least two graded artifacts in different years. Complete the reflection using the
template provided; the reflection must be at least a ½ a page. See page 4 of student workbook.

#8 Personal Statement: UC Prompt


Choose one UC personal insight question. The response must be a maximum of 350 words.
The prompts can be found at http://ucal.us/personalstions

#9 Community Engagement: Form Provided


Examples: 11th and 12th Grade Peer Mentoring, volunteer work at church, homeless shelters.

#10 Pathway-Specific Student Accomplishment: Accomplishment and Future Promise


Include the Market Myself Video. Make sure to reference the guidelines.

Brag Sheet: Form Provided


Fill out the brag sheet by typing in the information.
Two Letters of Recommendation: Teacher, Coach, Supervisor
Include two letters of recommendation from two different professionals. The letters of
recommendation need to be on company/school letterhead. The letters must be signed by the
individual.

Transcripts: Include grades 9-12


Request your transcript from the counseling office or speak to your counselor.

Vocational Certificates and Other Awards: academic, internship, sports


Include any awards you have earned in high school.

California Career Zone Test + Reflection: Learn more about yourself


Use the results from your Interest Profiler taken from California Career Zone Test found at
cacareerzone.org. Include the reflection and use the template provided. Also, print out and
include the summary page.
