Lesson Plan

I. Objectives
After a 60- minute discussion about constellations, about 85 percent of the students must
have:
a. defined threatened, endangered and extinct species;
b. cited examples of endangered and extinct species
c. inferred man-made factors that causes endangerment and extinction of animal species; and
d. presented ways on how to protect wild life species.
e. valued the importance wild life species.

II. Learning Content

A. Subject Matter:
Endangered and Extinct Species
B. Content Outline:
1. What is an endangered species and extinct species?
2. Differentiate species extinction from endangered species.
3. What are the causes of endangerment of species extinction?
4. Cite examples of man-made activities that can lead to species endangerment and extinction.

C. Science Concepts
 When the population of a species begins declining rapidly, the species is said to be a
threatened species.
 A species is endangered when its population has become so low that it is possible of
becoming extinct.
 Extinction occurs when the last member of that species dies.
 Human actions have resulted in habitat loss and degradation that have accelerated
the rate of extinction.
 The major cause of wildlife extinction is the loss of habitat or habitat destruction.
 Anthropogenic or man-made causes of extinction of species includes; a. habitat
destruction, b. pollution, c. overexploitation, and introduction of invasive species.
