It is our previous thing we know, that often restrict us from learning (Claude Bernard).

From the statement, it tells us when we know something at home like we cannot talk
back to others and it is considered as rude but in school we are taught to defend the
truth no matter to whom we are talking. When we already have the knowledge of the
restriction, we cannot accept that the new thing being applied to us because our
mindset already stuck with it. That is the main purpose of why it is crucial for the
teachers to bridge the gap between what practised at home with what is taught in the
classroom. In order to achieve this, teachers can try to control by managing the
culture and ethos of the classroom itself. According to ()()()()()()(()()(), the culture build
in the classroom influence the students’ attitude.

First and foremost, teachers must build the culture of appreciating and respecting
each other background. Teacher can encourage the students to share information
about their background which is indirectly fostering better relationship with classmates.
Students who have good relationship are proven to perform well and easily adapt with
the environment ()()()()()()()). For example, teachers can conduct activities that the
students can analyse and celebrate the differences among them. By doing this,
indirectly they will build better relationship among them. Based on the interview that I
made, the student’s learning process also disturbed by her environment due to her
background. According to )()()()()()()()(, background differences affect kids life in many
factors including the way they study.

Next, one of the ways to create a good culture and ethos in the classroom is by
restructuring the classroom. The way a teacher structure the lesson and also the
method used both play important roles on how classroom culture will be
perceived )()()()()()()()()(. From the statement itself, this explains that in changing and
creating our own culture, we cannot use the previous classroom culture. For example,
if teacher aims to produce students that helps each other and apply toleration in the
classroom, they need to reorganise the seating. The tables and chairs can be
arranged in groups where students can collaborate and discuss with their peers.
According to ()()(()()()(()()(), collaborative learning helps to enhance individual
self-regulatory skills and strategies. In relation with the interview, I found that the kid
also have issue in self-regulation which she face problem in learning because she
cannot arrange his schedule properly. So, from the activities, she can learn from
peers on how to build her self-regulation.
How did teacher-student relationship affect us when we were children? From my
past experience, I really love the subject when the teacher is caring about me and
dislike the subject which the teacher did not even remember my name. According
to )()()()()()(), teacher is the indicator that will determine whether the students are
good or not. If they have bad teacher-student relationship, their learning process also
cannot be effective. For example,if a particular teacher does not know the student’s
background, their level, their way of learning then how can he/she teach effectively.
According to Maslow())()(, in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, the third level is love and
belonging. It is crucial for the students to have good relationship with the people
surrounding so that they can learn effectively. It is undeniable that teacher-student
relationship cannot be made in short period, but teachers may take about months to
identify their students.

From the interview, the student that I met also tell that she finds that school is
boring and not interesting. So, one of the way that teacher can do to prevent this from
happening in the future is by creating experience to them. Experiencing in education
make things better and enhance learning potential ()()()()()()()()(). I am one hundred
percent confirm that all of us remember values that was taught in the story of ‘The
Tortoise and The Rabbit’ better than all values that was taught in other learning slot
when we were children. Why and how this affect us? The usage of storytelling give big
impact to students because the storyteller use gestures, intonation and illustration
which makes the students feels like they are in the story ()()(()()()()()(). In our case
which we are trying to create experience to them, we can use realia like we bring real
animals, fruits, exotic things or bring them to the garden to use their senses in
learning. By doing that, the students are having fun which eventually makes them
learning. According to a brain research made by Willlis()()()()(, the research claim that
our brain think when the fun stops, the learning often stops too. This research make
we understand that it is the best when we can create fun to the student which is by
creating experience to them.

In conclusion, the ways suggested above can be used by the teachers in order to
enhance the classroom and building the culture of the classroom. Teachers also need
to take into consideration based on the geographical factors because every human
mileage may vary. Basically, a good teacher will know which and what is the best
method to use because they are their students and not other teacher’s student.
