ACTIVITY 1 - WARM-UP
OBJECTIVE:
To get SS involved into the lesson and revise vocabulary related to crime
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
T greets Ss and asks informal questions. SS answer informal questions. T checks T–Ss 7 min

Ss are asked to match some newspapers headlines with the crimes they refer
to.(handout). T asks them if they have ever been robbed or experienced any kind
of offence.
ACTIVITY 2
AIMS : To give Ss to practice in listening for both gist and detail , completing the task
.
SS are going to listen to an interview with the Home Affairs Minister about T – Ss 8min
crime statistics. Ss have to say whwether the following statements are true or
false according to the minister. They also have to identify the types of crime S-S
the interview is about and if they coincide with those mentioned before.
Then, Ss are asked to complete a table with the passive structures from the text
according to its use/meaning. T also asks further questions regarding the tense.
Ss are organised in groups of four. They are told they are teams of
news reporters who have to translate a text in 10’. They need to be the
T – Ss 15 min
first to go on air with the piece of news.It’s about a burglary. The best
translation wins. After listening to their translation, T provides them with T-Ss
a correct version on a flipchar and discuss the possible mistakes.
