Day 3
REVIEW (2 min)

Does anyone remember the two words that we learned from yesterday? (Interests and
Empathy)
Raise your hand if you feel like you learned about interests and empathy! Each of you will
be receiving a sticker so keep your hands held up high!

INTRO (10 min)

Today, we will be learning about patience and kindness. Can anyone tell me about what
they know about patience?

* receives answers from kinders*

Great answers! Patience is waiting without getting upset or losing your temper. An example
of patience is waiting for someone to stop talking before you begin talking. What is another
example of patience?

*receives answers from kinders*

Patience is important to friendships because it shows others that you care about them by
showing them respect. Also, it helps us stay happy when we do not get what we want.

Today, we will also be learning about kindness. Can anyone tell me what they know about
kindness?

*receives answers from kinders*

Kindness is thinking of other people’s feelings and not just their own. Kind people help
someone who is in need and are kind even when others are not. Kind people never expect
anything in return and they just treat other people kindly because they want to make
someone’s life better. Can anyone tell me some ways you can show kindness?

*kinders answer*

Kindness is important to friendships because it shows that you are thinking about others and
want to help them. In many cases, when you show kindness to others, others will show
kindness to you.

INTERACTIVE ACTIVITY (5 min)

KINDNESS:
Turn to the person next to you and tell them something that you like about them.

PATIENCE:
Everyone, please raise your hands! When I call on you, you can tell me your favorite animal.
After you tell me your favorite animal, you can put your hand down.

OR

Marshmallow Waiting Test: have students sit at their tables. Each student will receive one
marshmallow. Students will then be told that those who wait and do not eat their
marshmallow will be rewarded by getting a second marshmallow. The time between the
two marshmallows should be around 15 minutes.

CRAFT (10 min)

Potted Plants:
For our activity, we will be practicing our patience and kindness through growing a plant.
Each of you will be receiving a pot with a hole on the bottom so the extra water can drain
out of it. On the pot, you can decorate it any way you want. I will be calling out specific
tables so we can fill your pots with soil and seeds, so be sure to pay attention!

Or

Heart Chains
Today, we will be making a heart chain! Each of you will be receiving two strips of paper.
On one piece of paper, you will write what kindness means to you. On the other paper, you
will be writing how you show kindness to others. On the back of papers, you can decorate
them any way you like! Make sure to write your name on your papers!!

CLOSING (2 min)

We will be singing the song “Make New Friends” to close our day. On the count of three, we
will start to sing. One, two three!! *sings*
