Important Instructions for Reporting at the University


1. The student has to clear the first semester tuition fee, full year residential fee (if availing residential facility) and any other
dues before joining the University, failing which may lead to cancellation of your admission.
2. Document checklist to be submitted at the time of reporting at the University:
i. A copy of eligibility certificates, mark sheets, transcripts (and English translation of these if they are in any
language other than English) and the original documents for verification.
ii. A copy of valid Passport (National Identification Proof in case resident of Bhutan or Nepal).
iii. A copy of valid India Student Visa endorsed in the name of Chandigarh University. Student cannot join the
University on any other type of visa except a valid student visa. (Except Nepalese and Bhutanese students)
iv. A copy of Medical Fitness Certificate from the home country
v. A copy of valid Health insurance can be obtained from university group insurance policy (Mandatory)

3. As per Government of India guidelines, an international student has to apply for FRO within first 14 days of his/her arrival in
India. Student should ensure to submit a copy of FRO certificate to the Registrar Office within 30 days of his/her arrival in India,
failing which his admission may be cancelled (Not Applicable for Nepal and Bhutan).
4. Bring 3 years Bank Statement duly attested From Bank, Required at the Time OF FRO Registration(Parents/Guardian Bank
Statement).
5. Fee is Subject to change at any point of time without prior notice.
6. Scholarship is applicable only in program tuition fee for the regular duration only. Scholarship will not be applicable in case
the student has back logs or reappears beyond the regular duration of the program.

Note:
1. Subsequently, students are required to pay their Even Semester Tuition Fee in November and Odd Semester
Tuition Fee (Annual Hostel Fee) in April each year.
2. All Payments (Tuition fee as well as Hostel fee) is to be paid in advance before beginning of each semester.
3. In case of any fee Default/Pending fee, the Student will not be allowed to register for semester/exams.

Refund Policy:

Application for refund of Tuition Fee and/or Residential fee, shall be accepted only in prescribed format and will be accepted only
before 31st Aug 2019.

Medical Certification:

Within 10 days of joining the University, a student will have to undergo a medical examination as per government of India rules
which stipulate that all international students entering India on student visa have to be tested for HIV/Yellow fever/others. In
certain acute case, the University, if deems necessary in the larger interest, can cancel the admission and ask the student to leave
the country. In such a case, fees deposited shall be forfeited.

Class room attendance Policy:


Student must attend 75% and above class room lectures for all Subjects (separately). In order to appear in final End Term Exams
any student with less than 75% attendance in any subject will be detained from Final Exam.

General Guidelines for Students

1. Foreign Nationals desirous of coming to India are required to possess a valid passport of their country and a valid Indian Visa
(Except Nepal and Bhutan).
2. For studying in India, it is mandatory for an international student to obtain an Indian Student Visa (Except Nepal and Bhutan).
The Visa can be applied for in person or by post at the Indian Embassy / High Commission of India based in the country from
where the candidate intends to depart for India.
3. International students taking admission at Chandigarh University should make sure that their Student Visa is endorsed by the
visa issuing authority for studying at Chandigarh University only.
4. A request for change of University name subsequently made will not be considered. In such case you would be required to go
back to your home country and apply for a new visa.
5. Also, if you enter India on basis of documents provided by Chandigarh University, it is your responsibility to ensure that you
directly report at this University. The visa endorsed in the name of Chandigarh University cannot be used for any other purpose
like employment, admission to any other University/college/institute/academy etc. or for non- regular (distance/online) mode of
education.
6. On reporting at the University, you have to submit a copy of the visa to the University and get the visa verified by the University.
7. It is your responsibility to ensure that throughout your study period, you are on a valid study visa and in case the initial visa is
not endorsed for the complete duration of the programme, you should apply for extension of the visa before it expires.
8. In case a student reports to the University late because of delayed Visa/ flight availability or any other personal issue, the
student will not be provided any relaxation related to attendance, extra time to complete assignments, opportunity to submit
missed assignments, opportunity to sit for missed examination(s), relaxation in marks etc. until otherwise decided by the
University.
9. For a student who joins the University late, the University holds the right to deny admission to such a student as deemed
necessary. In such a case, the fees deposited will be forfeited and also no claim for the expense made for travelling, visa or any
other expense made by the student will be entertained by the University
10. Even, after joining the University if a student leaves the country, it is the responsibility of the student to report back at the
University in time. In case a student reports to the University late because of any personal issue, the student will not be provided
any relaxation related to attendance, extra time to complete assignments, opportunity to submit missed assignments, opportunity
to sit for missed examination(s), or relaxation in marks etc. until otherwise decided by the University.

Foreigner Regional Registration (FRO Registration)

1. It is a part of the normal mandatory process that within the stipulated time-frame (14days) of arrival in India, a student has to
register his/ her name with the police in the designated Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) i.e. at Mohali. The FRRO
registration is online through (http://indianfrro.gov.in/frro).
2. The timeframe or rules for FRRO registration may vary from 24 hours to 14 days of arrival depending on the country of origin of
the student. A student with a PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card must register at the FRRO. Only OCI (Overseas Citizen of India)
card holders need not register. So, you must seek the most updated information from the Ministry of External Affair website
(www.mea.gov.in).
3. It is the responsibility of the students to get the FRRO registration done and provide a copy of the FRRO certificate to the
University within the stipulated time. Failure to do so may lead to cancellation of his/her admission or as otherwise decided by the
University. The University will not provide assistance in this regard.
4. A fee of US$ 30, paid in INR equivalent, is charged for over-stay and/ or late registration (i.e. after 14 days of arrival date
stamp). The immigration processing fees and other related expenses have to be additionally borne by the student.
5. It is the responsibility of the student to inform the designated FRRO in case he/she is leaving the country.
6. A student is not required to register him/herself on each visit as long as he/she is visiting on the same visa against which he/she
was registered earlier with the FRRO. However, a registered foreigner needs to report to FRRO/FRO if he/she re-enters India on a
fresh visa.
7. Note: It is the student’s responsibility to comply with all the visa/foreigner registration or other formalities as defined by the
government of India from time to time. Thus, a student is advised to visit Ministry of External Affairs website (www.mea.gov.in)
regularly to avoid any legal complication and hassle.
