Project Title:
Comperative study between pipeline (Gr. X65) wall thickness and water depth during installation
The research is about the relationship of wall thickness and depth of water during installation of pipeline.
Different wall thickness has different tensile strength and yield strength and the deeper the water the higher the
pressure will act on the pipeline. The research is done to know the limitation of the pipeline at certain depth.
This relationship between wall thickness and water depth will be affected by the mechanical factor that
will affect the pipeline during installation such as bending, ovality and buckling.
Problem statement
The high pressure of deep water required high thickness of pipeline, but high thickness of pipeline wall
increase the weight and problems during installation. The mechanical factor such as bending and buckling will
prevent from achieving the targeted water depth during installation. Suitable pipeline wall thickness need to be
obtain for a certain water depth.
To analyse different level of water depth as optimum level for different pipeline wall thickness.
To identifies the suitable method for installation of pipeline prior to wall thickness and water depth.

Scope of Research
The scope of the research is to use the different type of pipe and wall thickness to identify the limitation of the pipe
in different water depth. It is measure by the tensile strength, bending and ovality of the pipe.
