Who We Are
KENOSIS Foundation (KF) is registered (Reg.
No. BK IV BAN-BMH 166/2013-2014) under the
Indian Trust Act and is not inclined to any political
or religious groups. It is structured with a
constituency-based network. Kenosis is a Greek
word, it means “giving selflessly and endlessly” to
those in need.
Kenosis started in 2010 and established in 2013 as
a registered, a non-profit, charitable, social,
independent, developing, Non-Governmental
Organisation (NGO) in partnership and with the
support of various international organisations
across the globe in India. It’s a platform for
organising, supporting and facilitating volunteer
and internship work placement for all like-minded
people.
Kenosis aims closely focusing on alleviating
poverty, create financial independency and
stopping social injustice, especially those
vulnerable and suppressed women, youth and
children. We love the needy and the disadvantage
of health, education, green energy, community
building and solutions for financial empowerment.
100% of what we fundraise goes to our projects,
while our trekking and combinations in Nepal
raise money to support us while we support others.
Also focus on unskilled, under skilled and dropout
youths and offers employment opportunity
after training for self-employment, self-
financing and self-reliance.

Volunteer Eligibility
Criteria
Anyone above 18 years is eligible to participate. All our
programs are flexible, convenient and affordably priced.
Applications are accepted year round, and We invite,
solo, groups, students, graduates, couples, families and
working professionals get involved with us. Do not
really need previous experience or specific skills and
qualifications. We shall match with an interesting
project you like to volunteer.
Application Process and
Deadline
Our projects range from a minimum of 2 -4 weeks to
longer projects of 3 to a year depending on your
requirements. We offer top discounted prices for both
solo and group volunteers and interns. The Application
Process takes generally 2-3 months. Late application
and reservation can incur extra fees of US $ 150 /per
head in all our projects. As we are not a funded
organization, nor do we have our own resources or
infrastructure, KENOSIS “Can Not Afford” to provide
free food, accommodation and other related costs in all
our projects. Each project is carefully evaluated for such
costs and include in the package. It’s the volunteers and
interns’ responsibility to meet all personal expenses.
Our global network has access to both rural and city
communities in East Africa, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and
is growing and will insure your experience will be both
exciting and rewarding. We assure 100% health and
safety when you are with us.
Please not, Kenosis “NOT” a funded organization to
provide free food and stay. We rely 100% on volunteers
supports.

Our Prices and Discounts
The participants expected to submit an
application and reserve your seats by making
Non-refundable a registration deposit fee of US
$ 295 (US $45 discounted for group of more
than 5-10), ideally 2 to 3 months in advance,
latest 45 days upfront. The registration fee
supports pre and post support, administration
and sustainability of projects. The Program Fee
starts at US $ 350 –India, US $ 280-Nepal, US $
360-Sri Lanka and US $ 330– East Africa. Which
covers all your food, stay, airport pick up,
project placement, training, and 24/7 field follow
up services etc. Late application and reservation
can attract extra fees of US $ 150 /per head in
all our projects. Therefore, to avoid late fees,
decide your volunteer start and end date and
send us volunteer request 2-3 months’ advance.
The application process and confirmation takes
2-5 working days. You will receive a confirmed
email to reserve your seats. You are expected to
acquire your Passport and visa prior to travel, a
process which may take longer than expected.
We also require sufficient time to organize your
placement in the community of your chosen
project.
Package fees
Non-refundable application and registration fee of US $ 295 must
be submitted and accepted prior to selecting a project. Each
project submitted to Kenosis is evaluated based on the budget
projected by the welcoming community. It includes workshop,
training and induction, resource kit, 24/7 hours’ communication,
field supports, mentor and guide transportation to and from the
airport as well as within the community itself, local room and
board,1 or 2-day local trip and sightseeing and information on
personal local tourism, guide and supports. The Program Fee
“DOES NOT” include Airfare, Passport and Visa, Travel health
insurance, local sight-seeing and tourism and personal expenses
out of the projects.
Discounts and Offers
If you're looking to take part in more than one project, visit more
than one destination, or travel with a group or family, it's always
worth giving us a call. We'll help you build an itinerary and we
can normally offer you a discount too. In addition to this, we
offer specific discounts for members of our Alumni Network as
follows:
# 50% discount on your deposit when rebooking
# 15% discount for rebooking within 3 months of returning home
(10% discount thereafter)
# 10% discounts for group of 5 or more for each participants
# 10% discount for each friend you recommend who signs up
with us.
# The friends you recommend each receive a 5% discount.
Please note, the intercultural immersion price
starts at US $ 380/a week, plus tax, excluding
registration and processing fee of US $ 295.
Academic Credit and Certificate
At the completion of your volunteering experience,
each participant will receive a certificate and work
experience letter for your portfolio. We encourage
volunteers to also keep a written and photo journal
documenting your experiences for both personal
reflections and to share with and encourage other like-
minded individuals and groups to make use of these
opportunities. We encourage young people to be part of
social change and make a real and sustainable change
across the globe.
Visa Type
Volunteer, Work or Tourist Visa (*recommend) is more
than sufficient to stay in a program country and valid
for 90 days unless you want to stay longer than 90
days, which can be renewed if you decided to stay
longer. All host organization are able to issue Tourist
visa invite letters, which you can use to apply for a
tourist / volunteer visa at your local visa application
center or embassy. Full guidance will be provided to
successful applicants. If you already hold a visa of your
interesting project destination of your country, there is
no need to apply again unless it is due to expire during
the volunteer, internship, Medical Mission Trip, and
summer camp.
Travel Insurance
Whether you're traveling for two weeks or two
years, trekking the Himalayas or Sea turtle and
conservation in Sri Lanka or just volunteering for a
cause, insurance is an essential part of your
adventure and will help you enjoy your travels,
secure in the knowledge that you have the
protection you need.
In fact, everyone traveling with us must have adequate
cover before their trip begins. We highly recommend
our participants take an international insurance before
departing to project destinations; one that covers large
medical expenses, lost items, repatriation, and of
course provides 24/7 assistance. Choosing insurance
is a very personal choice, however, its mandatory and
recommended.
Arrival and Orientation
Day One: Our local coordinator / staff will give you an
orientation and will accompany you with your program.
You will be shown how to manage the commute (bus,
taxi, walking). You will be introduced to the site
director and discuss your role in the project.
Volunteers typically work a morning and an afternoon
shift each lasting about 3-5 hours.
KENOSIS programs provide a customized arrival plan.
We can arrange your arrival / pick up at the airport,
bus station or local hotel. Start your program with
peace of mind, having the local Kenosis or partner’s
staff meeting when you arrive in-country.
Volunteers are provided before starting their program.
Orientation schedules vary from country to country,
but will include acclimation tours of the local town /
city, accommodation neighborhood, geolocation, map
description, program location, main interesting points
in the city or area.
Emergency and medical protocols will be discussed
and also address safety and security issues specific to
the community volunteers live and work in.
Volunteer Schedule
Weekdays: A typical volunteer day is as follows:
7:30 AM to 8.30 AM Breakfast at the host family
or volunteer guest house.
9.45 AM to 12.00 PM Volunteers leave home and
travel to their placements. Work and hours are
dependent on the project and placement that you
are volunteering at.
12.30 PM to 2.00 PM Lunch break either at the
placement or volunteer guest house. Volunteers
can also take this time to lesson plan their
sessions for the following day.
2.00 PM to 3.00 PM Work at the placement.
Afterwards, volunteers are free to travel back to
the volunteer house, go sightseeing or relax in
one of the artsy cafes in town once their project is
over.
6.30 PM to 7.30 PM Time to clean up and relax,
run errands, correspond with family, friends and
socialise with other volunteers.
8:00 PM Dinner with the host family or volunteer
guest house. There is a group meeting held once
a week on Thursdays that all volunteers are
expected to attend to discuss their program with
staff and other volunteers.
Days 7-8: Saturday and Sunday, including public
holidays are free to spend or travel across how
they wish.
Weeks 2-12: Remaining weeks will follow the
pattern of volunteering from Monday-Friday,
depending on the duration of your stay in the
projects and having weekends free.
Departure Day: The volunteers are left free to
prepare themselves and depart to your home
country. One of our staff will help you to drop off to
the local Airport in time and bid you a goodbye.
Please note that Volunteer work hours can vary
depending on the program and the location.
Can I travel before / after the
programs?
Volunteer or Interns are strongly encouraged to
travel before or after the program. Do keep your
plans flexible though, often you will meet an
amazing group of new friends during the program
and can travel together afterwards or join a 2-
week intercultural immersion program. Please
note that the volunteer or internship or summer
camps require a full time commitment, and many
camps also run over weekends. Therefore, please
do not plan any travels during the weekdays or
summer camp program. Your host organization
will usually provide you with trips to local sights of
interest.
When can I travel?
Choose the dates that work best for you. Although
some programs have the date of the majority of
our volunteer programs are available year round.
Volunteers select their own program start date
and complete an online application. Once you
have accepted and approved dates, KENOSIS
will ask you to confirm your registration by paying
US $ 299 included in the overall fee.
Safety and Security
The safety of our volunteers is paramount for
KENOSIS volunteers. This is our 100% first and
most assured priority in all our destinations with
24/7 hours trained staff support and medical
practioners from multispecialty hospitals and
clinics.
Accommodation
Volunteers are typically accommodated in a
volunteer house and in some Health places
volunteers may be accommodated in a
homestay. Volunteers can expect to share a
room with one to three other volunteers of the
same gender. The bedding is provided with
pillows, bedsheets; if necessary it is
recommended that volunteers bring their own
sleeping bag for the winter months (November
through February- especially when you travel to
Nepal). Living is comfortable and all
accommodation has electricity, fans, western
toilets and running water.
Volunteers may request homestay
accommodation or a private room within the
volunteer house and both options are
dependent on availability at the time. There is
an additional fee of US $ 70 per week for a
private room in the volunteer house and this is
to be paid to the local team on arrival. Families
will be accommodated in homestays.
Food
Volunteers on the program is provided with 3 meals per day
(breakfast, lunch and dinner), which are all served at the
volunteer accommodation. Toast, vegan, non vegan, eggs,
spreads, fruit and tea are served for breakfast. Typical all
type of food served for lunch and dinner include chapatti
(flat wheat bread), dahl (lentil soup), curry, paneer,
vegetables and salads. Bottled water is readily available and
volunteers should budget approximately less than a dollar
per day for this (2 litters per day).
Please note, eating outside or spending money out of the
project is not included in the program fee.
If you have any special dietary requirements, please
let us know when you apply so we can discuss this
with you further. As you will be living and
volunteering abroad, you should not expect to eat as
you normally do at home; However, the local team
will do their best to ensure you are well taken care
of. If you wish to supplement some of your meals
with home comforts, there are basic kitchen facilities
available to use.
Phones: Before departure set up roaming
facilities on your mobile phone to enable
international calls. Alternatively, after arrival you can
purchase an Indian SIM card, you will need 2
passport sized photos and a copy of your passport
and Indian visa and call rates are much lower than in
other countries. Local internet cafes provide
international phone call services.
WiFi: WiFi is not available in all the volunteer
homestays, however, if you would like to keep
connected during your stay, we would like to bring
you an unlocked mobile phone and buy a local SIM
card when you arrive in India.
ATM (cash machines): ATM machines are
available throughout your project. Spending money for
personal use, usually US $ 20-30 to be sufficient for weekly
expenses.
Laundry: There are laundry facilities available
for an additional and affordable fee.
