This is the first time I saw or read an article about the life of Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong.

Through this, I gained lessons. I became aware of how did he become a business
mogul. Behind his success, there are many things he experienced. Now, I know what
are his ways to make all things possible. The knowledge that was given to him helped
him a lot.

When I was about to read the content of the whole article I have questions in mind.
What is business mogul? How did he become one of them? I was really confuse about
the word ‘mogul’ but upon reading I was slowly enlightening by the ideas that will help
me to have a deeper understanding about his world, the entrepreneurship world.

Dr. Henry Liong did not born as an entrepreneur automatically. I can say that his self
took a process. He had the willingness to learn and to become one of them. Besides, as
what I read, he used his family’s status as a motivation. He promised to himself that he
will prove his parents that he would be worthy of their respect and approval. Like most
of the entrepreneurs, his father influenced him a lot about making a business. He
learned lot of lessons that he used in order to be on the top. I also discovered that what
happened on his family especially to his beloved mother made him persevere. For me, I
am happy that the problems he encountered made him bolder. He turned his
weaknesses into strength. His own parents were the greatest influencers of where he is
now, on his eagerness to improve the hybrid rice farming to provide the farmers and the
country their needs. Their family’s one and same passion drove them to fulfil everything.

I was amazed that Joseph Estrada who was a Vice President that time is his friend. It
was a good thing to know that Estrada wanted the agriculture to be the priority. Estrada
mentioned about the China can export grains inspired of its big population. Good thing,
he realized something about this, where must be more in agriculture than planting
crops. His interest in hybrid rice production started here. Soon, it became his passion. It
is really true that your business can also be you passion. After studying about China’s
success, he told himself that Philippines can also do it. I admired him because his
actions and decisions were all for the sake of the country. He met the Scientist
Professor Yuan Long Ping. I can say that the Professor is a good and helpful friend
because he sent his three scientists to breed rice in different climate. He was really
risking everything for the sake of success. Reading about successful businessman
helped him to survive. Akio Morata, founder of Sony who only has his inventions
through traditional market and characteristic as a leader drove him to be one of the
richest men. It proved that the “rags-to-riches” is really possible, you just need to trust
yourself. Also he didn’t let the messy environment ruined his passion. With Steve Jobs,
it was great that from the beginning he taught his daughters the other side of life in the
business world. There are always struggles. That’s the truth. According to him having a
long temper can be the key. Then, he learned about their business.

After all the things he has been through, he still became successful. To this day, I’m still
admiring him because up until now he is still promoting hybrid technology. At first, he
couldn’t decide what to become, a professional manager or an entrepreneur but I guess
being a business mogul is his destiny. The Sterling Notebook that is very popular today
by the one and only Dr. Henry continues to grow and improve. Now, he is a powerful
business man. He is really a man to lead the industry because he is full of determination
and eagerness to learn.
