Introduction
The aim of this assignment is to assess student’s understanding of the theoretical principles of developing a
communication plan presented and to apply them in a practical manner.
This assessment task is a group assessment and should be attempted after completing Modules 3 ‐ 4.
This subject contains 4 assessments which progress as follows:

Background Information
You are working for the SimTech Corporation. SimTech is a consumer electronics store that specialises in
selling electronic equipment, tools, furniture, home products and vehicles that make people’s lives easier.
They are a national business with 20 stores employing over 400 staff. Please see their website for further

The company in the last 12 months has started to plateau in sales and decline in customer service. Many of
the executive team feel that this is attributed to recent changes in the organisational structure coupled
with staff turnover in key positions. Management is worried that if things don’t pick up, it could hurt the
long‐term brand reputation and profit projections for the organisation. You have been selected to manage
and run a project that will span the next 12 months. You will continue working on the project you started in
Assessment 1:
Improve employee morale and reduce staff turnover to under 3%
Improve sales of all stores by 20%
Lift customer service ratings to above 4.5 stars
Increase net profit for the organisation by 5%
Task 1 – Develop a Project Schedule
For this task of the assessment you must now focus attention on the schedule aspect of the project.
Complete the following:
Refine and complete your work breakdown structure based on your submission for Assessment 1
Estimate duration, sequence and dependencies of tasks
Create a Gannt chart to realise project timelines
Task 2 – Develop a Quality Management Plan
You must now develop a quality management plan to identify how quality control procedures will be
implemented, managed and reviewed in your project. Develop a quality management plan which will
include:
Quality objectives and standards
Quality management methods to resolve issues
Quality requirements for the project
Quality control processes
Task 3 – Gain Approval
Submit your work as a draft (via the learning portal) to the Project Sponsor (your facilitator) to gain the
necessary approvals to commence the next stage of the project. The Project Sponsor will then provide
feedback and guidance for any adjustments that need to be made before your final submission.

Achieving Competency
To submit and complete:

Quality management plan
Your assessor will be looking for evidence and that you can demonstrate of the following:
Develop work breakdown structure with sufficient detail to enable effective planning and control
Estimate duration and effort, sequence and dependencies of tasks, to achieve project deliverables
Use project scheduling tools and techniques to identify schedule impact on project time
management, resource requirements, costs and risks
Contribute to achieving an agreed schedule baseline and communication of the schedule to
stakeholders
Determine quality objectives and standards with input from stakeholders
Document, in a quality management plan, quality metrics for the project and product output
Select established quality management methods, techniques and tools to resolve quality issues
Distribute, discuss and support quality requirements with project team and stakeholders
Include agreed quality requirements in the project management plan, and implement as basis for
performance measurement
