Greeting Monday: Approaches to Learning – initiative,
1. Book Area and Toy Area card with photograph of books, Sand and Water Table Area card with water and Velcro board, Toy Area card with engagement, reflection
Time countdown chain, discussed what would be out for the week and introduced the countdown chain
2. Mystery sentences written, students read the mystery sentences from the week prior Social/Emotional – sense of competence,
3. Mother’s Day written, photograph of family and students thinking, students shared what they did with their families for Mother’s Day community, building relationships, moral

Tuesday:
1. New letter links written, Lerui’s name, students came up with words that begin with l, they came up with lazy, laugh, and lemon Physical/Health – fine-motor skills, body
2. Photograph of an umbrella, someone going up, a unicycle, and a unicorn, stated that they all begin with U, wrote an uppercase and lowercase u, awareness
practiced making both U sounds

Friday:
1. Mystery sentences written, students read the mystery sentences from this past week Social Studies – community roles, decision
2. Photograph of a queen, a quilt, an umbrella, and a unicorn, students sorted them by beginning sounds making, geography, history
3. Measuring written, students measured two different sized blocks using bear counters as the unit, students compared the sizes of the blocks

 We discussed Ramadan. Students learned that Ramadan begins when there is a full moon. We discussed how people who celebrate it fast during relationships, cooperative play
the day and eat at night. Students made stars using Popsicle sticks and glue.

 Students made a moon cake for Ramadan. Each student had a rice cake, bananas, peanut butter, and cheerios. They put the ingredients together to awareness, healthy behavior
make the moon. They used the rice cake as the moon and put the cheerios and banana slices on as craters using the peanut butter to help them stick.
Language/Literacy/Communication –
 Students made a painting for Ramadan. They made the moon using black and white paint, a cotton ball, and a clothespin. They made starts using comprehension, speaking, vocabulary,
yellow paint and cotton swabs. phonological awareness, alphabetic
knowledge, reading, concepts about print,
 Students made a yogurt parfait for Ramadan. Each student had yogurt, coconut cream, bananas, dates, honey, and granola. Students measured the book knowledge, writing
ingredients and mixed them together in a cup.

 Students spent time looking at books. They did this at greeting time, snack time, work time, rest time, outside time, afternoon snack time, and engagement, use of resources

Outside:
 While outside, students observed and explored the world. Students played on the swings, on the jungle gyms, on the slides, on the merry-go-round, Physical/Health – gross-motor skills, fine-
and in the sandbox. Some students played chase and catch. Some played hide and seek. Students are pretending to be villains and superheroes and motor skills, body awareness
are catching one another. Teachers are helping students to learn to swing by themselves by pumping their legs. Teachers are modeling how to do
this. Also, teachers are helping students go across the monkey bars. Language/Literacy/Communication –
 Students had to go to the gym due to the weather. While in the gym students played with hockey sticks, balls, jump ropes, and hula hoops. Also, a comprehension, speaking, vocabulary,

Work Time: book knowledge
 Students are deciding who they want to play with and what they want to play with, with more detail.

 Students are independent during their play and ask teachers to participate in their play with them.

 Students are engaging in a lot of pretend play scenarios. Many are playing house and pretending to go camping, to be teachers, etc.
 Students are respecting one another by listening to each others thoughts and ideas.
