Senior Process Engineer - Utilities - (1900064)

Job Overview:

Provide technical expertise and leadership on process utility systems to achieve project objectives

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

 demonstrate experience leading more junior staff in their teams


 be interacting on a daily or weekly basis with clients, prospective clients, internal
management and other departmental teams
 both produce and check others’ Project Design Basis documentation, project execution plans
& schedule updates
 provide technical direction in a number of utility systems (e.g. water treatment, steam and
power generation, flare and relief, venting and drainage systems, liquid effluent clean-up, inert
gas production)
 successfully apply their knowledge of unit operations (fluid flow, separation, heat transfer,
mass transfer, etc.)
 produce process deliverables: PFDs, philosophies, P&IDs, data sheets, supervise production
and maintenance of utility balances and summaries through various stages of project
development, guide and review others in these tasks as necessary
 have had significant input to engineering phases of many projects and will also have
experience of other phases (from concept studies, basic engineering, detailed engineering
and commissioning/start-up studies).
 report on schedule and progress against plan for work activities and projects
 allocate tasks to their teams, and build the team capabilities through coaching
 control manpower resources to deliver effective solutions
 be commercially and risk aware, suggesting alternative revenue and spending plans,
reviewing risk elements and proposing mitigation schemes to projects & management in
areas including HSE, HAZOP, technical and commercial risk
 produce structured reports with clear content and format, and make formal Process Technical
Presentations externally and internally to the company
 support new business generation preparing estimates and plans for review and approval by
the Chief Engineer
 use and understand the background of corporate guidelines, departmental systems and
procedures, propose and produce drafts on improvements for review
 be capable of fulfilling a range of tasks and duties, often simultaneously, discussing priorities
with management
 have skills in persuasion and assertion, presenting cases to projects and departmental
management, negotiating a position where necessary
 be adaptable, demonstrating that they have met change(s) in technology and working
practices, and have developed multiple skills
 have reacted positively to challenges, and coped with pressure of work

Basic Qualifications:

 B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering


 Must have process utilities experience
 Ability to travel and go on field assignments
 Proficient in all engineering computer tools
 Knowledge of process and systems design tools and procedures
 Sound engineering judgment
 Good supervisory and scheduling skills
 Responsible for the supervision of small studies and projects
 Ability to supervise and coach team members
 Minimum supervision received
