Prologue:
“Do you know what would be hilarious?” said Person 1, “What?” said Person 2. “What if at the
start of the first century, the world history gets twisted and somebody or a group of people gets
conceived at the wrong time and place?” said Person 1 anxiously with hint of excitement on his
tongue. “Well… History should change too much right… Right?”
Chapter 1: Rewriting History
Do you think history is just a straight-line path, or it is an interchangeable set of numbers,
like a locker that has different locks on it, and depending which lock you put on the locker the
locker changes owner? That would only mean that the owner of the locker has the power to
change the world that is inside of that locker. Well, this goes beyond of that and this will be one
thrilling ride to count back to.
Let’s start with the history of the world that is going to change owners. At the beginning
of the 1st century, the Roman Empire was thriving, business were booming, and politicians were
at work, there was a young couple, the woman owned a bakery and the father was part of the
volunteer army. Due to their father’s continued service in the military, he came a politician and
entered the Council of Plebs.
This spot hold little political power and authority, but it was responsible for voicing out
the voices for small business owners and peasants of the era. This gave him a little piece of
heaven. He wanted his new found family to have a confrontable life and a joy able one. A year
after he was put into office, they gave birth to one child, and named it Antoninus, due to their
relationship with the Nerva–Antonine Dynasty. The child was given a strong foundation of
education at an early age. This allowed him to gain a mental resolve to learn more about the
world and how to use to benefit Rome and its people.
At age 10, he was given a multiple books about philosophers around the world (from
the edges of the Roman Empire), he mostly interested in Alexander’s the Great’s travels, and the
discoveries made from the Greeks. He wanted see their ideas in the Empire. He would often talk
to the officers that came from the frontiers and in order to retire, or to have a long nights in the
public baths scattered in the city, all most every single one of them had a unique feature to them.
One day, he found his Dad trying to go into one, and his Dad quickly told him to back him.
When he reached the age of 11, he gained the right to have mentor, or have a specialized
servant. His dad urged to him that his first one should be older female, but his mother quickly
turned down that notion. Instead she gave him two choices, one go to nearby academy, to learn
more about the world he wanted, or two, go to military, so he can travel the world to see it. He
knew if he were to volunteer into the military he would die on a bloody battlefield, so without no
hesitation he picked the academy.
Around the same time, a young boy abandoned at birth, due to multiple issues including,
Parthia being semi-divided due to internal struggles due to the power gap caused by satrapies
being formed. A traveling merchant took him in and he gradually learned the skills of the trade.
Due to pair always traveling, he was given lessons on games, and on cultures that was
being traded through the Silk Road. During one of their trips he meet an elder coming from the
Han Empire, and he was carrying a magical game with him. This game caught the eyes of the
many children. But, only the boy successfully learned the basic rules of the game. The boy’s
guardian finally thought the time was right to give him a proper name. This name would be
revered for generations to come, it was Iskandar.
Iskandar believed he was the best at the game, because of this cockiness he quickly
advanced himself and finally beat his guardian at it, and several other merchants in it. He wanted
more of a challenge, and continued to beat officials of the government in it. This caused the Han
Empire, the neighboring monarchy to test his skills. The Empire called in several experts and had
them complete in a tournament to destroy the soul of Iskandar. This tournament saw the rise of
two promising individuals, one was a child about the same age as Iskandar, and his assistant. The
assistant was very good at keeping the opponent in a state of greed and pride. His games would
always end with his opponent having a lasting chronic depression with everything on them stolen
or sold. While the boy would lead on his opponent and crush them in one attack, without losing
worthy pieces. Iskandar saw the majority of their matches and thought he could win.
The match lasted a total of two minutes actually (two full flips of an hourglass). The
Empire thought that Iskandar would stop playing, after being shamed. They were wrong; his fire
only grew stronger and burned brighter. He challenged him two more times both ended loses,
after this he made a vow to come back to beat him. This promise would only come true on the
battlefield. But, he needed to more knowledge to learn how to control his pieces with efficiency,
and with more violence than this boy from the Han. So, for he now he aimed to take over the
famous roman academy.
The Romans thought the gained control of Gaul and the barbicans to the north; they were
badly misinformed. They were united due to a single Roman, Michael the Wise. He successfully
subdued the Celtic and Germanic Confederations, by spreading religion and putting in specific
edicts to increase entertainment and their quality of their life. Due to their acknowledgement of
him, they formed a full barbaric alliance, and gave him private lands, of the current English
Channel and its coasts. This was actually a quite a lot of land during this time for one person to
own. He gave autonomy to the local tribes, but he setup specific quotes for every tribe. The tribes
threw massive parties because of his decision, to allow themselves govern their own lands. The
tribes gave him their full support, and gifted him, with the prodigy of the generation.
His name was Ferdiego, and he came from the Iberian Peninsula with one purpose to
fully unite the tribes and make it into a federal confederation (a republic). Michael first taught
him Roman, and Greek alphabets by using the Bible, and mythical texts. This gave the young
barbican a strong sense of religion, and the morality of good and bad. This was the first step, of
hem becoming the chief of a new republic. At the age of ten, Ferdiego could easily read Latin,
and understand it’s varied dialects. This gave him a spot in one of the most prestigious academy
at the time, The Roman Royal Military Academy. Michael begin to tutor the young barbarian to
pass the entrance exams.
Ferdiego had to devote one full year to his lessons about the Greeks, and Persians. During
these studies, he drafted a new set rules for his care-taking tribe, and that was to appoint people
to permeant positions in the society and to have the men, young and old to train every day. Of
course, they argued about why they should follow a child’s ambitions. Ferdiego persisted that
this help them grow, so they followed his command, but they established three rules. 1. A child
of a specialized family has the direct authority in choosing his own destiny. 2. In times of tribal
conflict, a council will be established to lead the tribe, during the conflict. 3. Any new equipment
and skills shall be test on the battlefield, during a tribal conflict. He had to agree, or this once-in-
a-life-time-chance would be lost. Thus, a new type of tribe was born.
A month after this change, the tribe grew in power, and had more time on their hands. So,
they begin to start to play music and learn nature. This led Ferdiego to learn more about the
philosophers of past and of current, for Michael. Michael taught him these philosophers in a
rhythmic and coded way. Ferdiego had to decipher these codes and riddles to fully understand
what Michael meant. Another month had passed, and Ferdiego solved the majority of his riddles,
and understood nature and the human more, than anybody in his village. He spent his time
usefully, because the entrances had come. Ferdiego traveled to The Roman Royal Military
Academy with Michael, to take the take the dreaded exams.
Chapter 2: The Academy
The Roman Royal Academy, was founded and funded by Caesar and Augustus, to train
the new batch of generals loyal to the Empire, then to the Emperor. VENI, VIDI, VICI, was the
commonly known motto of the academy. People all around the Empire wanted to see the inner
plaza, but only the instructors, students, and alumni get to see it. The entrance exams for the
academy are only given to those with recommendations, and at the ages of 10 to 12. Plus, only a
handful are accepted every year; this makes it the hardest school to get into. For this year’s
exams only 20 people are taking the exams, including Antoninus, Iskandar, and Ferdiego. The
exams include several subjects, knowing all of the subjects, makes you a modern-day
renaissance man. The exam includes questions about: different formations and their worthiness,
the properties of moral on a battlefield, and their basic knowledge of philosophy, geography, and
history.
Antoninus and Iskandar scored above average on the tests, that is a feat by itself, and
Ferdiego scored average, still good, but not great. Two scored above average, one scored
excellently, ten scored averagely, and four below average, those who got below average failed
and can never take the test again. The 16 students that passed, were welcomed with open arms, Commented [a1]: Test took on August 1, they got scores
and they received many congratulations from the instructors, but only one seemed to care, and it back on the third

was Ferdiego. Being the only one from one of the confederation tribes, this was a great honor to
him. The one dubbed Perfect, rejected their complements, and went inside the academy.
Meanwhile, the other students begin to introduce themselves. Antinous immediately denounce Commented [a2]: School started on the fourth
Iskandar, due to them scoring the same grades on the test, sharing the tittle of the Second Place
Duo. Iskandar didn’t mind him, due to his only rival being that of the young boy from Han. One
of the above average kids, reveled his name was David, as in David and Goliath, but he took
Goliath’s traits and David’s personality. He also revealed he was born to a wealthy family near
Britannica, after Caesar’s conquest. The other one was just a son of a merchant, from the new-
conquered Carthage.
The kids were divided into two groups, officers and soldiers. The above averaged Commented [a3]: Same day school started
students and Perfect were given officer positions, and the average students get the soldier
position Officers were given a well-rounded education with a focus on military. While the
soldiers were given a poor man’s education with time to prove he could became an officer. The
way he had to prove himself was that he to defeat an officer in a test of knowledge. Of course,
most soldiers failed when came down to a test of knowledge. This allowed the majority of
officers to keep their positions in their grade. But this is not even the exciting part of the school;
at the end of every year, there is a competition between the different age levels. Almost year the
seniors would win, but this year would be very different.
The first classes the officers had to take were: General Moderating, General
Commanding, and General Strategies. They didn’t have to go to them in a certain, but they went
to their classes, just as the instructors said them. In all of their classes Antinous would always
argue with Iskandar on which policies should be focused in times of crisis, Ferdiego kept writing
down their opinions, reasons, and justifications, David made everybody quiet, when the teacher
was in the room, or just entered, and Perfect kept falling asleep in the classes. For some
otherworldly reason the boy from Carthage was never in their classes in the same time they were
in there. This went on for a month, until Antinous came up with an idea, that they should
separate for one week, and see who would win a contest of knowledge. The other kids thought
this stupidest idea, but the all thought, one week is all I need to separate from this kid. So, they Commented [a4]: August 4 + one month + one week
agreed, at the thought of a quiet class.
One week passed, and at the location for the contest of knowledge, all of the officers of
that age level were present (the strangest thing was somehow the boy from Carthage gained
knowledge of the event, even though no one saw him their classes). The contest of knowledge
was just a retest of the entrance exams. The testing lasted about four hours, with Perfect to finish
first, then Antoninus, Iskandar, and David. The son of Carthage and Ferdiego tied to finish last.
Antoninus and David, surprisingly shared answers and compared, while Iskandar tried to talk to
Perfect, about gossip in the school. Ferdiego practiced more on his handwriting, while the son of
Carthage, just left to go to into town. It takes a full night for tests to be graded, so they dispersed
to their rooms, and waited for dawn.
The breaking of dawn, is a signal that the new class will never forget, the day before they Commented [a5]: + one day
took their back-breaking tests, and now it is time to see who improved, and who lagged. Perfect
gained a perfect score, from his merely near perfect score. Antoninus and Iskandar still tied for
second but, they go near perfect scores. David and Ferdiego tied for their above average scores,
right below Antoninus and Iskandar. This was something that the kids were not expecting, and
the lonely son of Carthage got the lowest above average score but, he aced the geography and
history portions of the history, which is something unheard of in the academy. The kids stopped
picking in him, but started to call him Solumn (lonely). This greatly improved the boy’s
confidence in himself, because his classmates gave him a nickname.
Solumn, now recognized, started to go to the classes and was granted the tittle of The
Weird Loner. With all of the first-year officers to together, the instructors finally started to give
their exams, tests, and quizzes. The majority of these things were easy to the students; the only
time they had difficulties was when the they had to work together to issue, and correctly give
orders to their pretend soldiers. During their first pretend clash with their teacher, the group Commented [a6]: A month after the retest in the last
selected Perfect to be the commander, Antoninus and Iskandar as generals, and Solumn, David, comment

and Ferdiego to be subordinates. Perfect gave minimum, broad commands to Antoninus and
Iskandar by paper. Antoninus and Iskandar were furious and gave specific, and conflicting
orders to Solumn, David, and Ferdiego. The teacher gave them their first failing grades in the
academy. After that dramatic defeat, Antoninus came up with a plan. He wanted Perfect to step
down, guide the forces of Solumn, as an elite force. Then have Iskandar lead a combine force of
his, Antoninus’ and Ferdiego’s, and have Ferdiego as his subordinate. Then, David would lead a
moderate-sized organized group to protect the rear, and help give orders with Antoninus. This
lead the army with Iskandar with strategic orders, and Ferdiego with moral orders to the front.
Perfect and Solumn would be able to cover any of the army’s mistakes, and Antoninus and
David, would lead the army in a general direction of victory and would pick-up or mercy kill the
wounded, and providing support to recovering, and shattered troops.
A few days passed, and the kids were given the project again, and the group enacted their Commented [a7]: Event happened on the 14th, Total of 3
plan. The teacher was surprised that they put this much consideration in a simple activity. They months and ten days have passed since the beginning of the
chapter/// Current date: November, 14
teacher threw many thought problems, and the came with optimal solutions, for all of them. The
instructor passed them on the project, and submitted a project to the principal. The kids, now
teamed up, thought they took on the world. Luckily for them, the competition is rapidly
approaching!
Chapter 3: The Competition
A month passed, and the group passed their classes with exceling grades. The instructors
were relieved that the newest class has reached the levels of the sophomores and the juniors, in
such short of a time. The students felt proud that the teachers were finally praising them for their
accomplishments, instead of giving them mock exams, if them have a long outburst of laughter.
They laughed to their heart’s content in this moment. After they were done, the instructor
announced that they will take their final exams, tomorrow. They realized that this was their
punishment for laughing. But, Ferdiego remembered and told everyone that the competition takes
place during the end of the year, and then Iskandar put it together. “The final exam is the
competition” exclaimed the instructor, before Iskandar said it. The students all thought, “the
instructor wanted to destroy our dreams and nightmares at the same time”.
Then by pure coincidence, the school’s messenger slammed the door open, and told them
to meet in the field. They were all excited to see what their final exam” would be. It would be
like of their clashes with the teacher, or straight class vs class in a contest of knowledge. It was
the very last thing they thought about, a WAR GAME. They should have known; the school
prepares them for any and every type of war. The only thing they don’t about is, what are the
subjects that the upperclassmen are taught.
The rules of a WAR GAME are as follows:
a. An equal number of soldiers will be given to every class
b. The formation or the use of the soldiers are all up to the officers
c. A class is able to have up to two advisors (teachers specifically asked by the students, or given to the class)
d. The game will take place on one of the four chosen grounds. It will be chosen by the greatest number of votes.
e. Volunteer and involuntary crime(s) of any solider, any officer, or any advisor will be judged by Roman law.
There are more specific laws, but they will be told in the story

Antoninus and Iskandar thought this was the perfect moment to be ahead in their studies,
but one thing they soon realized, was that their upperclassmen were just royals from the southern
parts of The Roman Empire, and her southern neighbors. The sophomores came from Axum, a
growing empire, with few resources, few people, but with elite skirmishing forces that know
their surrounding lands, very well. The juniors came from the most southern part of Carthage,
where the loyalty to the fallen empire still ruled, and the seniors came from the most western and
eastern parts of the empire. They exceled in beating down rebellions, and rebellious soldiers.
Due to their positions, as heads of their family they gained their skills on the field, when villages
and tribes under their house rebelled.
The freshman, while being the newest class with no experience, they excelled in task managing
and in information manipulation. For the longest, they concealed information about themselves
and about the soldiers in the same grade as themselves. The group stared to frantically think
about how they should approach their noble upperclassmen. They knew dealing with nobles as a
task asking for death. They would overhear their instructors talking about how a hassle to deal
with them.
The game was going to be held at the closet mountain, and the basis was hide-and-seek.
The different classes had one day to successfully attack a camp and protect their own camp.
They signed up for their dates in secrecy to at least hold an advantage in time. The juniors signed
up for the first day, the sophomores the second day, the seniors the third, and the freshman the
fourth.
Solumn, being from Carthage and somewhat knew the nobles, went over to talk to the
juniors. Iskandar, had personal relations with the nobles from Axum (not a very good one), went
over to talk to them. David and Ferdiego went to talk to the seniors, since they came from
frontier towns, just like the seniors, and Antoninus and Perfect stayed beyond to talk to
instructors and to come up with fortification strategies. With them being on the last day, they
knew they will have a disadvantage attacking the others, unless they were able to cripple their
upperclassmen. Antoninus, Perfect, and Iskandar all knew this, and tried to come with plans
before and after their engagements with the other classes.
Unknown to them, the seniors and sophomores were coming up with plans to do a
hammer and anvil strategy on their defensive forces, and to do an ambush, when it was their day
to attack. They asked the juniors to join them, but they saw as a crooked and corrupted thing with
no honor. The seniors and sophomores reminded them that the freshmen are willing to give chase
to annihilate their enemies. The juniors still refused they did want to take apart in a game of
killing, but they wanted to play in a game of survival with honor.
The next day the classes, guided by the instructors, hiked to their starting points. The
freshmen class setup a post on the biggest hill near their location and gave their army their first
commands, and that was to hike… up a mountain for the entire day!
War… War never changes.

Chapter 4: The Day of Battle
The next day the classes, guided by the instructors, hiked to their starting points. The
freshmen class setup a post on the biggest hill near their location and gave their army their first
commands, and that was to hike… up a mountain for the entire day!
The classes were given a day to put up necessary defenses and to establish a base of
operation. This base of operations was the fort that is supposedly to guard against incoming
attacks. The classes were recommended this, but they don’t have to. The freshmen recognized
this unspoken rule and they tried to create a gap, as much as possible between them and the
others, and they all wished to get the highest advantage point. There was a group of small
mountains near them, and they agreed to settle there, but it was a good two kilometers in one
direction, and to make it better there were trees surrounding the hills. Antoninus planed out one
of his plans that included the trees and the mountain, and quickly shared it with Iskandar, the
plan was to ignite the woods, around the hill in order to give them a few extra days for their build
and garrison plans.
The sophomore and senior classes setup multiple small camps in order to make a supply Commented [AJ8]: Sophomores = Children of Axum
line (a way for them to gather and organize their troops and supplies); they wanted to use their Commented [AJ9]: Seniors = Children from officers
free day to get closer to the freshmen and to scout them out. The juniors used their time located at the most western and eastern parts of the empire
according to their teachers and stayed put for the day and the next. The upperclassmen, made Commented [AJ10]: Juniors = Royalty of the most
plans from what they did in their homelands and harmonized into a single union. It was almost southern part of Carthage

like a single empire banding together to defeat a rebellious Consul. Commented [AJ11]: Make a base camp, scout the
surrounding areas, establish a supply line, and a way of
communication
