Pengantar

Dalam tata bahasa Indonesia, kita tidak akan menjumpai masalah

agreement (concord) seperti yang akan kita bahas kali ini. Sehingga, sulit bagi

kita untuk membandingkan masalah agreement dalam bahasa inggris dan bahasa

Indonesia. Padahal, masalah agreement ini sangat penting untuk dipelajari bila

seseorang ingin mengerti dan sekaligus menggunakan bahasa inggri dalam lisan

Pengertian concord menurut “Otong Setiawan Djuharie” dalam (functional

English grammar)

Saat kita membuat sebuah kalimat, sebenarnya kita sedang merangkai

rentetan kata-kata yang terdiri dari minimal subject dan verb . Verb dan

atau auxiliary harus bersesuaian dengan subjectnya. Bila subject dalam bentuk

singular (tunggal) , maka verb/auxiliary yang digunakan juga harus singular

(tunggal). Jika subject dalam bentuk plural (jamak) maka verb/auxiliary

yang digunakan juga harus plural (jamak).
