Workshop 3 Quantitative Research]

The findings of the study will benefit the students, Physical Education teachers,

administrators/School Heads and future researchers.

Students. Through knowing their Physical fitness level and the extent of playing traditional

games, their needs and interest will be addressed by giving them the right programs where they

will become physically, mentally and socially active; they will be also aware of other traditional

games and give curiosity to engage themselves in playing it.

Physical Education Teachers. The study can serve as a guide in transforming their methods and

approach in teaching to meet the demands and competencies in the new educational system of

the generation.

Administrators/School Heads. This study may hopefully call the attention of administrators or

supervisors to support the development of the social and physical aspects of the students. And

understand that they need to give opportunities to the teachers to engage in seminars, training

and other activities; in order for them to gain new ideas to improve their competencies.

Future Researchers. The result of this research will be a big help to other researchers to study

further interventions in promoting physical fitness and activities like playing traditional games. It

can serve as a contribution in promoting and preserving culture as well. It can also use to

encourage them to research more interventions in different needs and problems in educational

system that needs to revised to connect and relate today’s generation.

Parents. The findings of the study can serve as basis in giving proper guidance in educating

their children about Filipino culture and gives them an idea how important to spend time with

their children to play as need for their holistic development.

Scope and Delimitation

The researcher aims to study about the effectiveness of “Philippine Traditional Games as

Intervention in Improving Grade 7 Students’ Physical fitness Level. The research would conduct

the study to the grade 7 students of Camarines Sur National High School, Naga City. 50 students

from one class will be the experimental group and another 50 students from another class for the

control group. Both groups will undergo a physical fitness test to diagnose their physical fitness

level. The researcher will also conduct an interview and to some students from experimental and

control group to know their knowledge about traditional games and to what extent they are

playing the games. Then, the experimental group will play traditional games every day within 1

week. Each traditional game to be conducted has a target to improve in the physical fitness

components, whereas the control group will use the traditional systematic way of conducting the

Physical Fitness test.
