PLANNING OVERVIEW – TERM
Year Level Unit Title Human development topic Jesus Topic
6 Guided Through Prayer Moral Choices Prayer
Overview – explanation of the content of the unit and how it explores the Salvation Topic and development of the Human Person

This Year 6 unit explore the many choices that people take in everyday life. This unit explores the ability to make moral choice, and prayer as it strengthens
us to do good. Students wonders at the Creator of people with this ability to do good and begin to realise that God is good. Students analyse Gospel and
interpret how Jesus always chose to do good. The unit then moves into discovery and fulfilment of prayer. One reason Jesus taught his followers to pray
was to help them do good. Students learn formal prayers to guide them such i.e. The Lord’s Prayer (Our Father); Hail Mary, and also develop an
understanding why Christians praise Mary to pray to God on their behalf. By the end of this unit, student will recognise that through prayer humans open up
their hearts, body and soul to God asking to strengthen their virtues and develop habits of doing good.
