1. Derive the expression for the electric potential at any point along the axial line of
an electric dipole?

positive, (ii) negative. (b) A uniformly charged conducting sphere of 2×5 m in
diameter has a surface charge density of 100 mC/m 2 . Calculate the(i) charge on
the sphere (ii) total electric flux passing through the sphere.

surface. What is the net flux coming out of the surface?

between the plates of the two capacitors. How will the (i) the charge and (ii)
potential difference between the plates of the capacitors be affected after the
slabs are inserted?

18. The two plates of a parallel plate capacitor are 4mm apart. A slab of dielectric
constant 3 and thickness 3mm is introduced between the plates with its faces
parallel to them. The distance between the plates is so adjusted that the
capacitance of the capacitors becomes 2/3rd of its original value. What is the new
distance between the plates?
19. Two charged conducting spheres of radii a and b are connected to each other by
a wire. What is the ratio of electric fields at the surface of the two spheres? Use
the result obtained to explain why charge density on the sharp and pointed ends
of a conductor is higher than on its flatter portions.
