I. PC Requirements
In order to use the Terminal Server two components are needed:
A. Remote Desktop 6.0 or 6.1 is required for full functionality of Oracle Terminal Server. Depending on
your computers operating system you may need to download this software:
1. Computers with Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2, by default runs Remote Desktop Program
(RDP) 5.1, which opens a full blown terminal session. RemoteApp will not work and local printers do
not map. Users will need to download the Remote Desktop 6.0 or 6.1.
2. Windows XP with SP 2 and RDP 6.0 opens a RemoteApp correctly. The default local printer is
attached to the session and printing works. Updating of the Remote Desktop is not needed.
3. Windows XP with SP 3 has RDP 6.0 built in. It opens a RemoteApp correctly. The default local printer
is attached to the session and printing works. Updating of the Remote Desktop is not needed.

III. Printing
Remote Desktop Program (RDP) 6.0 or 6.1 must be installed (see PC Requirements section, page 1).
Upon the first time launching “Terminal_Server_Oracle.rdp”, users are prompted if they would like to
connect their clipboards, printers, etc. Users should be certain to place a check by the Printers box. If
there is not a check in the box, the only available printer will be “Microsoft XPS Document Writer”. To
change the printer setting, open Notepad. Select “File,” then select “Open.” Browse and open the file
“Terminal_Server_Oracle.rdp.” *Note: the file is usually on your computer’s desktop. Look at line three.
Change redirectprinters:i:0 to read redirectprinters:i:1 Save the file, exit notepad.
Only the Default printer will be brought over to the remote session. If the wrong printer is listed on the
terminal server, the user will need to change the default printer on their host PC and reconnect.
