Islamic law in civil courts, the jurisdictional conflict between the civil courts and the
Syariah courts, appointment of women as Syariah judges and the institution of fatwa,

Farid Sufian Shuaib is an Assistant Professor at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of

Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia. He currently holds the post of
Deputy Director, Harun M. Hashim Law Centre. The author has written
articles on issues in Syariah courts, the Malaysian legal system and
constitutional law in local and international journals. He has published several

Tajul Aris Ahmad Bustami is an Assistant Professor at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah

of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia. He has taught several
Islamic law subjects and specializes in Islamic Law of Succession. The author
also has written several books and articles on issues relating to Islamic legal
system in Malaysia.

Mohd Hisham Mohd Kamal is an Assistant Professor at Ahmad Ibrahim

Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia. The author has
